I do not get it? If it was not originally black then what is the big deal that its black? I thought a refinished standard with non original electronics would go for $2500 maybe $3000. some one please educate me.

Hi Vince. Thank you for your insight. Getting a reply from you right out of the gate is pretty cool. I am going completely off topic but How does it feel to strap on a wedge and bash out a chord? it must feel like riding a unicorn. The rarest of the rare. much respect to you.

very cool vince! One last question. As an astute collector are you suspicious of counterfeit wedges? WIth the rising prices do you think there are any in circulation? Thanks for your attention and time.

well isn't that like the moderator enabling the thievery? You are the authority on beans without a doubt so coming from you he should let you post all you want. Has any one on here "bean" ripped off. If so I would like to hear the story. without naming names of course.

BeanDip -- I don't know how long you've been reading this forum, but back when there was more of a free reign mentality, things got kinda ugly, and I think everyone here has chosen the path of tact lately. Maybe we're all too careful, but the alternative was no fun. Ha, I make it all sound so serious. oy. Deez gitars, dey iz life o deth.

Looks like the give away on this guitar being a refin is the control cavity that still has clear finish under the pots to reveal the serial number. Original solid color beans were painted inside the control cavity. The other photos are too unclear to tell for sure without an "in hand" examination. Other incriminating clues are that serial number appears to be #1276 which photos on the database show to be natural koa, while described as being originally black...hmmmmmm. One slim possibility is that the serial number is different than the guitar in the database and the original black finish was carefully stripped out of the control cavity to reveal the serial number.
bean dip: I don't want to start a flame war, but accusing the moderator of enabling thievery while simultaneously kissing up to another board member strikes me as a bit tacky.

If you had as many Beans as Gallo I would kiss your ass too! but it dose not make much sense to take the "teeth" away this site. This site is the perfect vehicle for con artists to find victims who are new to the game like me. It seems that deleting a "heads up" on fraud would only hurt things not help. Guitar collecting can be a vicious and competitive game so why shouldn't this site sometimes reflect that?

I am sure that many folks on this board (including vincent) would be glad to advise you if you were unsure about a specific guitar purchase. No one here wants to see someone get ripped off. Whenever a bean shows up on ebay, there are usually plenty of useful opinions around here if you ask questions. You can always email people directly if necessary also. Good luck searching....By the way that koa artist that sold recently for 4k was a beauty and ended up selling for a great price. Its a good time to be waiting for the right guitar to come along.

You guys have a good point ... it would be nice to know who the con artists are. And if it hurts their feelings to be called con artists, then they need to stop cheating people and clean up their reputations. I also wouldn't mind seeing Beans offered for sale here and offers made, deals struck and sales closed. We're all grown-ups, we can survive some mud-slinging and competition.

I provided the previous thread mainly for BeanDip and peggyfoster since the points they brought up were discussed there.

Hello BeanDip
Thanks for the kind words on the site. To answer your question. I would say the tone of the boards have been much friendlier over the last few months. Things can still get heated, but overall it's been positive.
In regards to your post question, I would say that posts count is normal and hasn't been affected much. This is hard to gauge, since the *flame* threads would generate heated replies, which increased the post count.
Thanks! admin
