The music shop I worked at when I was a teen sold Travis Bean guitars but this was towards the end of the company's production. I remember a pearl white Artist model arriving in a flight case shipped that way originally from the factory. I have never seen another original factory supplied artist flight case. As well two of my Wedges came originally with factory brown hard cases and not the more common flight case provided with Wedges. About a year ago I posted thread looking for Travis Bean cases, as I am always short a case or two for my Bean collection. Since I offered high prices for the cases the tread turned into some mud slinging and since then Travis Bean case discussions have not appeared. The Travis Bean guitars themselves are what is interesting to me regarding the brand but I would love to know more about the different cases supplied with the guitars when they were sold new and the variations of those cases. Can anyone share insight please?

I am curious to know more about these from-the-factory flight cases, as my standard came in a flight case that looks as old as the guitar and has no (brand) name on it to speak.

The original flight cases I have seen for Beans are all the same. Anvil-made with blue outer shell and plain grey foam inside. The Wedge model came in a triangle shaped case both for the bass and guitar but the non-flight case for the Wedge is brown and shaped traditionally. My Wedge bass cases are a bit longer but one Wedge guitar came with the longer case from the factory as the foam inside is cut for the guitar. It is lucky if the foam has not corroded and remained intact. Most of mine are ok but two are not. I am short one case for one of my Wedges and short a standard case for my favorite Artist. Sadly I am minus two cases for a pair of my TB500's. My TB500's are far apart in production and I was curious if they were fitted with different cases from the factory because of this. I own many variations of Travis Bean cases that I am 100% sure are factory stock. If you are unsure your case is factory original please email me a photo and I will verify if it matches one that I am sure is. A member just emailed me a photo of a flight case that his Bean came in and it was easy for me to confirm it was not original.

Has anyone confirmed whether the different colored cases went with any specific model, meaning were the blue cases for artists, etc...? Also, I have several cases that are red. Does anyone know if the red cases are from the Bean factory? Obviously most cases are either blue or orange. I also have a black interior case for one of my basses, but the case is identical to the others in every other way. Wondering. Thanks

I know that Mark and Travis usually used whatever they could get. I would imagine that if the case manufacture said they were out of blue or black lining and all they had was red, then they would have said fine, use that and send them as soon as you can. Cliffy(Travis) was very anal about quality on the guitars, but cases were only what the guitars went in. I've seen red lining's in TB cases around `77/`78

the very first cases were made by Harptone in `74/`75 and were an oblong case much the same as some of the Gibson SG cases of that time. Mine(#011) had a nice, dark blue velvet lining.

Could one of the bean geniuses on this board take a look at the pictures of standard number 1415 on the data base and tell me if the case is indeed original. there are many photos of the case. thanks

I dunno, I've seen a few late `70's cases that look exactly like that. One of my best friends had a Standard and his case looked exactly like that one.

I had a wedge and it had the same case vincent is talking about, blue anvil w/ grey interior foam but the foam was falling apart and it was owned by Don friggin' Dokken!! I also had a white artist that was in it's supposed original case, it was just a standard 70's black hsc, but it was nice and it fit perfectly and had no distinguishing features that would differentiate it from other standard cases of the 70's.

Does anyone have insight as to the differences between the early TB500 cases used for the early body type and the cases used for the later body type? For that matter is there a consistent difference between the TB500 cases and the TB1000 cases.

I met the guy today who made all the Anvil cases supplied with Beans. He's working at another case company these days in LA. He told stories of how fanatical the original owner of Anvil was in regards to quality and perfection. the glory days
