Well this has been bugging me so I found an inflation calculator on the internet:

$1000 in 1976 would be equivalent to $3557 in 2007

I think this emphasizes what a great value a vintage Travis Bean really is. And when you remember that the company lost money on every guitar....just some food for thought.

I feel lucky to own a Bean!

Hey Charlie

Where did you find that inflation calculator? Very interesting. Seems like the market is right on. I too feel extremely lucky that I have a Bean. Love to own another one.. but doubt that day will come.

I dont think the inflation rate is a fair indication as it probably doesnt take into account produstion costs. As the company was losing money on the guitars that means they would have cost over $1000 each to produce in 76. That is the equivilent of $3557 today. If it cost a company anywhere near this figure to make one today they would be doing something wrong.
An EGC costs about $1400 U.S. (I think thats right) which according to the calculator would be the equivilent of about $400 back in 76.
