Hello,

I recently purchased tb1000S number 1157. It is refinished black over red, non-original fitted pickups, and has a strat style hip contour sculpted into the body, as well as a shortened lower horn. (As seen in the pictures in the database.)

Beyond these obvious mods, I am wondering... was there an "in-between" horn and body shape? My serial number indicates I should have narrow horns, but these seem slightly bigger than others, yet not quite as wide as later models. Also I noticed that number 1356 currently on ebay looks similar in shape to mine, but not as wide the later serial numbers, for instance number 1643 also on ebay now. Perhaps its just the perspective of the photos, but just curious if there is any info on this. I played number 729 at a local guitar shop recently and it seemed to have a slightlysmaller body and slimmer neck profile compared to mine. Could have been my imagination. Again, just curious about the variations from year to year. I am really enjoying my new bean, mods and all, and hoping to have tb style replacement pickups made by EGC soon.

Thanks for the info!

Thanks

¦ can't help with a definitive answer

your question did give me a good reason to review all of the Standard photos ¦.(thanks Hank ¦ and I think I found a new favorite Bean ¦ Standard # 574)

I will say that although I've only played a few Beans, (to me) the necks are all over the place from normal Les Paul to baseball bat Tele and perfect early 60's Strat

I think your plan to work with Kevin is great ¦ I will add, maybe consider getting a humbucker for the bridge and a single coil/500 for the neck

I really dig your guitar, especially with the mods since it will give you a chance (without worrying about the vintage/resale thing) to get it just the way you want.

Good luck!
