Hi.I Have a stripped black TB1000s (by previous owner). Im going to have it refinished in clear varnish.The guitar was never dismantled,the metal components were just sanded around. I have started to pull the guitar apart so I can have the job done properly.There are some very helpfull posts here regarding this process, thanks.
I was wondering if anybody has any experience or advise re the removal of the pickguard?I havent tried yet and dont know how strong the glue is. I just don't want to bend the guard or lift any of the timber grain.cheers.

First off, I assume you are talking about a Standard or Artist guitar. To the best of my admittedly limited knowledge, the pickguards were polished stainless steel and were epoxied to the bodies. A decent 2-part epoxy available at any hardware store should do the trick. Read the package directions and don't use too much and you should be OK.

Hey,
Have no fear of bending the pickguard, its pretty strong. Theres a few ways,
1. pry it up, just be careful to not ding the wood and if you have to, make sure the spot is under the pickguard.
2. the next is the way Ive removed most, take the neck and pickups out. Generally, the pickguard over hangs the edge of the pickup hole. So what I do is take a flathead screw driver and from the rear of the guitar(through the neck slot/pickup holes), catch the lip of thepickguard and with a small hammer give a good tap and it should pop off.
Its pretty easy and not easy to screw up, so good luck.
