I've never found a source for it. A few years ago I went to a local machine shop and got a small amount of brass stock and fitted a replacement for the TB2000. The grooves in the original nut had worn down too far. A set of fine files and a little patience can produce a great replacement nut. I currently have an ebony nut fitted to see what difference in sound there is. No decision yet.

Thanks! You're right about trying different materials -they can have an impact. For this guitar -I want to preserve the integrity so best to stick with Brass -thanks for the feedback -I appreciate it

Just buy a brass nut and have it cut. That's what I did. ANy good luthier should be able to do it. I doubt you can find a pre-cut nut. In the 70's people toyed with putting brass nuts on other types of guitars - oh I can just hear the puns now...
Anyway, order one, bring it to a dude who knows what he's doing, and about $70 later you'll have a nutted, set up Bean.

I just had a new nut put on one of my Beans. My tech tried a couple brass ones made for Gibsons... They were too wide, so he filed them to fit the neck. Then the first two were too short, not letting the strings clear the first couple frets. The third one, supposedly the same, was tall enough and works great. So after a quick mod and sorting through a couple, there are some pre-cut ones that will fit.
And Alex is correct - the nut, install, and set-up ran me $70 total.
