Looks like the shill bidding didn't work out the last time this guitar was listed. "Buyer" and seller gave each other positive feedback on the previous listing, but apparently the high bidder and the second place bidder backed out. Nice guitar, but something is fishy here. Maybe the second place bidder smelled a rat and left the cheese in the trap for tweedjr. Pretty funny stuff!

I thought the Bean factory wrote the serial number in the body cavity? Is it fishy that this guitar is lacking?

I wasn't referring to the guitar itself being fishy, but can't tell much from the crappy photos. I was referring to the previous auction where it supposedly sold for $7100. If you look at the bidding history on that first auction you will see two bidders that nudged each other up to that amount. Both bidders have low feedback numbers (recently registered) and the "winner" tweedjr gave and received positive feedback for the auction. Who is tweedjr? he/she could clear this up perhaps. Can't tell who the second place bidder is, but he/she could also shed some light on the situation. I suspect that both bidders check out this site and I doubt they will come forward....but who knows. By the way, the seller also has only 1 feedback (the newly posted very positive feedback from tweedjr..!!!!) To sum up the situation: WTF?

Dear Sol, yes the Travis Bean factory marked in black marker the serial number in the body under the pot cavity cover. Since this TB1000 standard is beautifully finished in black the marker would not show up and therefore it was not marked. I own 9 Travis Beans finished in black and all are the same. There are ways to tell if a guitar from the Travis Bean factory was factory color finished.
Regarding Charlie's worries of fraud, I spoke to the seller and had complete confidence he was honest and reliable. The winning bidder of the first round is a member here and it is up to him whether he would like to discuss here why he backed out. The seller supplied me with those details of why the deal was cancelled. After hearing those details I had no fear of bidding and I felt it was a good chance to own another beautiful BLACK BEAN so I did a buy it now and it's mine.
