Yes! The newest Russian Circles, "Geneva". I had always liked the band but didn't really seem to listen to them all that often until I heard this album. There is a song called, "When the Mountain Comes to Muhammad" that blows me away. Aside from that, I always seem to gravitate to older music like
Pink Floyd, "Wish You Were Here"
Kayo Dot, "Choirs of the Eye"
Charles Mingus, "The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady"
Dinosaur Jr. - most albums
Engine Kid, "Angel Wings"
Joy Division - all albums
Led Zeppelin - all albums
Mogwai, "Come on Die Young"
Mouth of the Architect, "Time and Withering"
Neurosis, "Through Silver In Blood" - Locust Star is such an amazing song
Pinback - most albums
Red Sparowes, "At the Soundless Dawn"
Slobakken, "Klonapet" - Love Interest gets me everytime
Sun Kil Moon, "Ghost of the Great Highway"
Sunny Day Real Estate, "Rising Tide" - cliché yes, but I cannot help but love this album
Of course there are many more, but when I go to redo my iPod's playlist, these are the albums that always make "the cut".

Mogwai, "Come on Die Young" = favorite Mogwai album (Christmas Steps.. come on.. awesome)
Joy Division = don't even get me started on JD. Love 'em. You get into the older New Order (Movement, etc)?

Haha that is cool that we share some musical tastes! I agree about Mogwai's, "Christmas Steps"...I actually forgot to list that album thanks for bring it up! And YES! Geneva is a mind-blowing album...it is one of those albums where I think to myself, "DAMN it! Why didn't I write that album LOL." No but really, it is one of those albums that just seem to fit with whatever mood I am in, which I cannot say for every other album I listed.
A lot of the albums you listed I am not familiar save for Silkworm; I like this because I no get to do some research and learn something new! Thanks man, it is cool to find new music...

Spring weather really got me listening to a lot of Maserati again. You know how seasonal/musical associations go (pretty cool). 'Inventions...' remains an all-time favorite.
Somehow I missed out on the newest Russian Circles. I was REALLY into 'Station' when it came out, saw the guys live in Louisville (fantastic), and then let 'Geneva' get right by me. That's something I'll have to download today.
I've just about played it out, but Japandroids have really refreshed me over the last couple of months too.
@1uncertain3 What is some of your favorite Pinback stuff? Those guys are awesome.

Man, my band played a show with Maserati just a few months before Jerry Fuchs died last year. Incredible drummer. He was damn near a one man show.

@ Bastin:
"This Is A Pinback CD" has a special place in my heart, because it was the first album I had heard of them. I had seen them at one of their first shows in San Francisco and picked up the CD after watching them preform - an amazing show BTW. This album has that special nostalgia for me.
Aside from that, I really love "Summer in Abaddon". "Offcell" and "Grey Machine" from their "Offcell" E.P. are some of my all-time favorite songs!
What about yours?

'Blue Screen Life' would be my '...Pinback CD', and my favorite for the same reasons.
But 'Loro' was the first Pinback song I ever heard (thanks Pandora). 'Blue Screen...' was the only album that I could find locally.
They're one of those bands that is a great source of anxiety for me, simply because they have been so prolific and I started listening to them pretty recently. It's good that I started near the beginning but it is tempting to get too much of their music too fast. I don't want any of it to get lost so I take it pretty slow; bands can disappoint depending on the direction that you move. Luckily that hasn't happened with them, and I don't think that it will.
Lately I have been playing the crap out of 'Summer...'
"Penelope" may be one of my favorite songs ever. Gotta love the bass tone too!!

Matt,
"Blue Screen Life" is an amazing album! Actually, after responding to your post, I am sitting at home listening to Pinback now; they are one of those bands that has an amazing ability to write memorable albums; albums that I believe will last. And you're totally right about "Penelope"! That song really strikes a cord (no pun intended) with me.
While we're on the subject of San Diego bands, Black Heart Procession (everything up to 'Six') is very good, I really love the "In the Fishtank" collaboration with Solbakkan.
I also wanted to ask if there are any Wil Oldham fan here? Bonnie 'Prince' Billy's "Master and Everyone" to me is such a great album. Now that I think abut it, I want to add that album to my list haha.

@ Bastin: Have you listened to the Black Heart Procession + Solbakken in the Fishtank Vol. 11 and if so, what do you think of it? Personally, I really dig it!
@ HLAVA: I haven't yet decided if I like the new Kayo Dot. I admire that Toby Driver is flexible/creative enough to try new things - he reminds me of Frank Zappa - but I'm not sure I like the direction of this album as a Kayo Dot album; that said, it really is a great album...very jazzy and interesting (in a good way).

i love the direction. no guitars, more jazz, more prog (in a cool way)...his music has a very outstanding and original character.
i still listen to the old matarial aswell, though.
