Hello All
I'd like to put this message to the more experienced individuals that buy and sell Beans on a regular or semi-regular basis. I think some of the answers resulting from this thread might be of great use to people looking to buy their first Bean or just looking to buy another Bean. As Beans get more popular in the vintage guitar world, we should all have some basic fundamentals when buying, selling or trading guitars.
Please, let's keep this thread 'nice'. I'm looking for tips on what to avoid or look out for on eBay, craigslist or pawn shop purchases. What are some of the common red flags? What are the best ways to exchange money for a guitar?

If possible any internet sale should involve high quality detail photos of every aspect of the guitar. Unfortunately this is rarely the case for ebay listings in particular. Good photos are important to determine original finish, original electronics, original screws, etc etc. I have purchased guitars with missing parts such as replaced screws and I bought one Bean that had a different pickup stuffed inside the Travis Bean cover...no wonder that pickup sounded like crap! And refins are always a danger..see related thread about the black standard. Unfortunately, its just part of the risk of getting a Bean, since not that many make it to respectable dealers. Some risk is part of the game I'm sorry to say.
