wow, who knew there was all this drama in the aluminum guitar world?

the bean i acquired recently unfortunately did not come with the original case. for my purposes the guitar still works fine without it.

best of luck to you in finding cases and winning your dream bean.

Hey Vincent,

I am glad that you saw my comment as just a "tiny bit" of passive aggression. It was meant to be a playful joke. In all honesty, I would prefer to own an original case, but am unwilling to pay what the market would bear for one. It just isn't worth the money for me, personally. I also want to be clear and let you know that I don't think there is any need for you to defend your art or your guitar collection just because you want original cases. Who am I to judge another mans way of living?

I also agree, as others have on this forum, that in the Bean world a couple of collector's can make a huge impact on the Bean market. I probably wouldn't own my Bean today if it weren't for "Dank". He loves the instruments so much he helped me find one so that I could share the passion for a guitar I had coveted since 1994. I am curious why you felt the need to give out his full name and out him as the other big Bean collector, just because you don't choose to be anonymous on this site. Maybe that was just another emotional moment, but I should leave that between you and him.

As far as getting a job and working for things in life, I have found that I what I work the hardest for is typically what I appreciate the most. I do feel however, that there are factors in life that prevent people from realizing their dreams (including that of owning a Bean). Some people just aren't as privileged as others.

I am thankful I found a Bean, it's great. But like yours, it won't define me as an individual or my art.

Regards,
Eric

Everyone knows that only an ******* separates a guitar from it's case. I have proof that beans could be bought without the case. A receipt indicates that an original owner went back a few days later to buy a case for his (then new) tb500. No case usually means the guitar has been kicked around from bedroom, to bedroom, to dorm room, always left out to be bombarded by UV light causing the yellowing and fading of colored and clear finishes alike. All my beans play better because of their cases, except that the foam in my wedge case jelled and started to become one with it's pearly-white finish. A little naptha (lighter fluid) on a cloth will take off even the most stubborn of foam gunk.

are people that tour so much that their cases get destroyed assholes? do replacement cases not serve the same purpose?

Vincent,

TBGURU said only an ******* would separate a guitar from its case and I just suggested that there was a possibility that someone who might not necessarily be an ******* might be their case to oblivion while on tour.

About Dank, I don't think it was fair for you to decide whether or not the forum readers know his full name. I don't think most regular posters on this forum use their real names. If so, I can only imagine the ridicule Hogrot faced in grade school. Plain & simple, it is Dank's decision whether or not he wants to remain anonymous, not yours.

I know you feel the need to defend that you have worked for everything you have, but I wasn't trying to single you out. I consider myself privileged. I think most people on this forum and most Bean owners are likely more privileged than most on this planet. To deny that privilege exists in this world is like denying that gravity exists. I can safely assume that a kid today growing up in suburban Denver has more opportunity than an kid in impoverished Myanmar. I am not trying to right the world's wrongs here (this is a guitar enthusiast forum). I don't think your simplified solution of "get a job" and " save your money" will be the solution for every aspiring Bean owner.

You worked hard, beat the odds, and just maybe had some good fortune along the way. Things could have gone differently.

I am sorry that you feel so much negativity from me because that is not what I am trying to project. I simply disagree with some things you have written and enjoy a little light banter every once and a while.

I still wouldn't pay $300 for an original case but would not fault you if you spent that.

Take care¦

wow, I had not known about this post until a friend in Chicago (who shall remain nameless...haha) told me about it. The one and only reason that my name shows up as Dank is because I do not like giving out my personal information over and over again simply to be able to chat on a website. It was a joke when I signed up....fist name "Dank"...last mane "BUD"....get it? Dank Bud?!
Not sure why Vince brought it up, but I don't care. I think we have patched our differences and he knows I have nothing but respect for him. It is unfortunate that we have been wanting the same guitars at the same time, because, yes, it did make the prices higher, though on at least two occasions, I did step aside and not bid, and on one occasion actually cancelled a bid, risking another ebay suspension.
Anyways, I, Dank am John Ruklick. I am out of the closet. Here, my email address: ruklick55@yahoo.com.....I don't care, I simply was trying to avoid spam or unwanted advertisements and thought it was a clever name, though it has grown old over time.
And, Eric, thanks for the kind words. For those who care, I did do my part in helping him get a beautiful '500 for $2,500.....how's it treating you? I have been meaning to write. I just know you are loving it because they are such special guitars.
Finally, to Vince, again, you know how I feel about you: nothing but respect and I have told you to your face that I think you are a genius. Anyone who has not seen his work, you should check it out...though I recomend seeing Buffalo 66 before Brown Bunny. The latter is not for the faint of heart...haha.,...but the movie Buffalo 66 is PHENOMINAL and I could watch it over and over again. The movie builds to an incredible peak towards the final scene where my heart stopped for about a minute. Also the scene with Christina Richie (sp?) tap dancing to the King Crimson song Waiting for the Sun (??not sure of the name) is just incredible and extremely sensuous.
Sorry to get off subject, I just wanted all to know that my hope is for a harmonious place where we can all feel free to talk about the guitars we love so much. This site is a joy!
And, finally, I own ONE Veleno and have no desire for any others....so, you can take me out of that equasion.
-PEACE!!!!!

i met chris cunningham in a cafe nero in camden yesterday. cool huh?

if this holmes stayed at home homie, fun things like that wouldnt happen in the immediate and present.

guys - im everyone who isnt a dick's homie. ive never met either of you two, hence i dont know if you are dicks or if you are not. i was just being a dick myself. like rlrlrl - a dick. so please dont take offence. think of me as HILAROUSLY FUNNY. i mean stellar levels of humour here - although with poor spelling and grammer. think of this as further depth to my exceptional comic channeling. be glad. If i was conversing on a message board with someone as smart as i am, id be happy (and i am, because you guys, though rowing in a publicly viewable forum about $300 guitar cases and acting like children with sweets) at least seem smart.

dear alec.ive got a bean 1000a copy with original pick ups and body but repro neck. im not sure who by. its not a bailey though and its got 1120 scrawled in the neck cavity. who knows. anyway you can have it for £650 because ive got 3 beans. anyway if your interested let me know.

also i might know of two 100% original 1000s that might be up for sale but im not sure.

To all parties. Can we please stop now? I've been running this web site for a long long time.. and I've never had to remove a thread or post in that time. I'd like it to stay that way. This site was meant to be a open community for free discussion about Beans and music.

Maybe this is the direction it's going, and if so, moderation will need to be implemented. I hope not. It's up to everyone that participates in these forums to see what direction we go in.

Thanks!

Well.. I guess this is how it's going to be. So be it.

Moderated/Censored it is then.

To admn and anyone else who cares. I have chatted on many forums, but there are only two that are interesting enough for me to have continued on for over a year, going on 3-4 years on the other.
The other is called gearheads (I think it's GearHeads@yahoogroups.com) and believe me when I tell you, this site is TAME compared to that one. Not too uncommon for someone to tell another: "F* you, you are a complete moron" ....."go back under the rock you crawled from" and sometimes, VERY intense arguments brew. We even have one guy who is a resident "mentally ill" person who continues to join with different names and send 5-10 emails at once and just ramble on about the most unbelievable ridiculous things (currently known as Scott Hammy). Many fellow group members jump down his throat telling him not to waste their time because they have to read through all the posts if they recieve it to their email. To me the site would lose a LOT if he were banned or blocked or censored. I find his rants extremely humorous at times and I have fallen off my chair laughing at the obscurity of some of what he says.
Then, there are very bright people who get angry and some get offended, but it always works itself out and there are always one or two voices of reason who step in to chill everyone out.
One prime example is one person that somehow offended me (don't even remember why) when I first joined. We worked it out and realized that email loses vocal nuances and sarcasm all together. This person and I have become very good friends and I now have all the respect in the world for him and consider him a true friend.
My point is....Administrator....censorship is not the answer. This little thread here is nothing. If it were to escalate to threats and violence, then I could understand stepping in and taking some action. But, I think sometimes arguments are needed and can be a healthy part of what we are doing here, which is, after all, trying to seek out information and truth. We all love these guitars and again I will say, this is the most polite board BY FAR that I have ever been a part of.
Holmes explained he was sarcastic...even if not, if he thinks I'm a dick, well, I probably am sometimes. Mr. Gallo has not offended me in any way.. If he had, we could work it out between ourselves and I have nothing but respect for him. ANYWAYS......
Enough of my rant. I just don't like the idea of censorship, even though I may have requested it in the past when it suited my needs.
Censorship=BAD!
-peace to all of you knuckleheads

i dont think you are dick dank. it was just a passing comment like you might say to someone you know, but dont actually mean. im sure you werent offended though, but i just want to confirm that is was not serious. I just have to remember that vincent is a film directer, and im afraid, like you, lives in LA.
