Can someone tell me if the body of my standard (see database #515) is actually a light Koa or possibly another wood (magnolia?). I have compared it to many other koa photos and it does seem much lighter - expert help appreciated.
thanks

I'm no expert, but it looks like koa to me. The reddish brown color and the grain suggest koa. Let's see what the other folks have to say.

looking at the grain structure and figuring I would agree that this is Koa. I have not yet seen a Magnolia standard this early (correct me if I am wrong, but don't they usually show up in the wider-horned models)

Yes definately koa. Koa can range from very light to very dark but it has a grain that is quite different than Magnolia which looks closer to maple in color and grain. I have used koa in some non guitar projects and seen a pretty wide range of color.
