Does anyone remember what this sold for... I believe this is the one that I sold to Bill Kaman back in October 1994...

Just wondering...

Most of these guitars were for sale in 99-02 if i remember correctly. All on ebay and all in germany. The prototype, double neck, Beans wifes guitar, etc. There was also a slew of instruments owned by bean that came up for sale when the reissues were auctioned off. It was all really neat stuff, like Beans personal artist and guitars missing pickups and just random pcs. The 3 pickup 500 was sold for 1500.00 I think. Ah we had it so good back then.

thanks for the info Kevin.

since I don't feel like seeking out Jimmy Page and waiting for a reply about the benefits of a double neck guitar, could someone please enlighten me as to what would be so special about it? does anyone know of a contemporary artist using one in an interesting way?

my ears are open, i've just personally never seen one put to good use. if i have heard page using his i wasn't aware of it. it's diffiicult to tell if one is being used just by listening to records.

Definitely more frequent in the 70s and 80s than today. Common benefit.. is alternative tunings between necks, Page had 12 string and 6 string combo -- for Stairway. I've seen bass/guitar double necks. Another option could be slide guitar set up (high action) and normal guitar for the other for rhythm, etc.

If both necks were 'equal', you could capo one for another tuning, and have the ability to switch to the other for lead. The most common ones you see are the 12string/6string combo. SG makes one still.

Kevin

I remember when those German Beans were on eBay.. they were asking for astronomical prices even in today's price boom. Very cool stuff though. Weird how a large set of unique Beans ended up in Germany. I remember when Beakman (sp) had a nice collection in Australia too.

Hey Drollain,

I'm interested in contacting Bill Kamen. Any chance you still have his email or anything? If you don't feel comfortable giving out the contact info of others, maybe we can talk first privately or something.

Thanks,

The thing about that double neck Wedge is....? It just looks like it has 2 6 string necks on it. If that is the case, then that's Spinal Tap!!

Hi Kevin,

If you have Kaman's e-mail, I'l take my chances on his bean-friendliness (or lack there of).
freddyrayhendrix@mac.com if you're down to give it to me.....
Thanks!
JB

Only the TB1000A doubleneck. I saved pics of it years back, but no luck locating them yet. Koa with two six string necks, first version horns, body, etc. I'll keep digging.
