My lovely 26 year old Artist has finally reached a point wear something has worn...and its the nut.
The B and bottom E strings are sitting too low in their slots and causing buzzing.
Are there any easy fixes or is it new nut time. Is this a difficult job (i'm in the UK) or can any guitar tech do it? I assume I just need a brass nut blank?
How does the old nut come off?
Also, my bridge saddles are starting to wear, are these easy to get hold of for the Bean, and should I consider some of these Hi tech black graphite (or whatever they are) bridge saddles?
Are they a standard size?
Sorry about all the questions, but my baby needs sorting...she deserves better than having the nut grooves packed out with bits of plastic!!!!
Thanks for any help.
Marc.

Nuts were epoxied on. Use something flat & blunt to butt up solid against the fingerboard side of the nut, and then strike it sharply a couple o' times with a brick, rock, or if you have one, a hammer. Preferably going AWAY from the fingerboard. It will pop off clean. Finding a brass blank might be tough, especially in a backward country such as the UK. Some guys have said that tuning problems went away when they substituted plastic/ivory/bone for brass.
