just looked at the TB humbucker auction...the price is already more than you used to be able to get the whole bean for not so long ago... (and the auction still has an hour left.)

that said, it is really ******* cool to see all the old stuff that obie is posting/auctioning, and it seems like the dough is going to a decent guy!
thanks-

Now I really feel sorry for the guy who missed the travis bean standard for $300 at that silent auction a couple months ago! That's gotta hurt...

That's an amazing price to pay for a couple of steel base plates, some alnico magnets, and a bit of wire. You could make about 200 TB replica pickups for that cost, and they'd sound exactly the same... haha.

I'm completely stunned!
In my brother's more recent notes on repairs he did, there is one about replacing a pickup on a Bean Artist with one of his NOS pickups. He charged the guy $180 including labor and probably felt guilty about it! And, I expect that he spent a good hour adjusting and fiddling with it just because.

Well, like someone else already said: It's nice to see that all this money is going to someone who seems to deserve it (being you).

Hey beanman, good guess but you're wrong I' afraid. I don't mind paying a fair price for a guitar but I don't buy parts. I do actually know the buyer - he's a collector in London who bought an Artist with a missing pickup. He'll sell on the other one I guess.

Sorry about that weSell. Still, for you folks across the pond, shopping in the US must be fun with the exchange rates as they are....
