I have a TB1000 with a back bowed neck. I have two possible solutions for this problem,the first is having it resurfaced at a machineshop wich I realy don't want to do. What I would like to do is "spring " it the other way in a 20ton press,but I don't know what kind of alloy the necks are made from and obviously don't want any catastrofic results.the finger board has been removed by the way, any thoughts?

Well , I found a solution myself the old necks are made from 6061 t-6 wich is a fairly soft alloy and took nicely to being staightened in a press with the help of a couple of contoured felt padded blocks. The newer necks are 7075 and I don't know how well they would fair. although, maybe they would'nt warp in the first place.

Sorry I can't offer a solution, but could you let us know how you think the bowing occured in the first place?

I am not certain how it happened however , it has been on a guitar hanger in a music store for several years. My thought is that it probably took a fall, the headstocks on these guitars don't quite fit standard guitar wall hangers and they seem to want to "twist" out. The solution I posted on 4/29/03 worked perfectly.
