Does anyone know what string gauge TB500s and TB1000s came with from the factory? Also, how about the factory action setup specs?

I'm wondering if these models were designed to play and feel their best with a specific string gauge or action setup.

I contacted the factory back in 76 and asked about the strings. They told me 010 gauge and that they used D'Addario XLs as I recall.

Thanks for the info!

If you have any other detailed info about how things came from the factory please post it.

I wish I could tell you more. I bought it new then changed the setup to lower the action. I now prefer higher action and have reset it. After I first got it, I put .009 Ernie Balls on it. It wouldn't stay in tune. Then I call the company. I don't know who I spoke to but they mentioned the .010 D'Addario XLs. I've been using them ever since.

What is your action currently set up as?....as measured from the bottom of each string to the top of the 12th fret for a reference.

Just wondering, as I use D'Addario stainless 10s on my 1000S and have to set my action to 3/32" at the low E string (6th string) and reduce about 1/64" across all the other strings. Anything lower than that and I get buzzing when playing around the middle of the neck. I may need a fret file in that area to allow lower action.

I'm using D'Addario nickle 10s.

The action settings at the 12th fret to the bottom of the strings is about 2/32" for all 6 strings. I have almost no buzz. I found that buzz is far less tolerable on my Bean than any other guitar I own.
