I am wondering what output a travis bean pick-up produces as well the single coils as the humbuckers. I have been trying effortlessly to match the output of my other guitars to the output a bean has. Otherwise my other guitarist gets really frustrated, and he has every reason to be so at the moment. I was hoping that by buying pickups with higher output the problem would be resolved somehow ? I hope

Why don't you just turn up your amp...

if i'm guessing correctly, i imagine it is the OTHER guitarist that has the volume problem.
I am just learning about pu's and the different factors in their output. if anyone has a longer answer to the question of where the meat of the bean comes from, i'd love to hear it

We both play Fender Bassman amps, and turning them louder doesn't really fix the problem. I've had some contact with Frankintank he advises to put pickups with higher output in the non-bean guitar and to put a pre-amp of some sort in between guitar and amp.

For the clarity I play a Travis Bean 1000A which goes through a preamp and then to the amp. The other guy plays some of my other gear, a Roland 505 (with an analogue synth) directly into the amp. I was thinking of putting GFS pickups in the other guitar (3 times 9K output) but I now think that buying a preamp will be the only real solution to the problem. By the way Frankintank says that if you take the pickups out of a BEan and put them in another guitar they'll still have a lot of output but will miss the balls a Travis Bean guitar has, hence my conclusion that pickups only will not solve our problem

I'm still not totally clear on what you're saying...

Are you saying that your TB is way louder than the other guitar, and you want the other guitar just as loud? Then I should have said "why not turn your volume down?".

I'm guessing maybe what you mean to say is that you like the sound of your amp turned almost all the way up, and doing that plus having the high output of your Bean drowns out the other guitars? If that's the case, there's still a way that you can turn down without losing the overdrivin sound you like... Look in to getting a "power break", which loads your amp and makes it sound like it does when it's cranked all the way up, yet with the volume down...

If you mean you want the other guitar to have so much output that it overdrives the pre-amp section of the fender, then yeah... you'd have to put something that can act like a fain booster in to the signal -before- the pre-amp to make the signal "hotter".
