I spoke to the seller and had complete confidence he was honest and reliable. The winning bidder of the first round is a member here and it is up to him whether he would like to discuss here why he backed out. The seller supplied me with those details of why the deal was cancelled. After hearing those details I had no fear of bidding and I felt it was a good chance to own another beautiful BLACK BEAN so I did a buy it now and it's mine. Regardless of what Charlie thinks, I feel a clean black Bean is worth $6,000 and I am much happier to own it than the seller could ever be to sell it.

oh by the way, my author name is Vincent Gallo just like my real name. Charlie has posted 113 times since this January. Since he is so opinionated it would be great if he could fill us in a little on who he is and what his experience with Travis Bean guitars is so we can have some context to his strong point of view.

Vincent, I figured you might get it since it was in your area. Congratulations, it looks like a nice guitar. I had been offered the guitar previously and was not suspicious of the guitar, just the previous auction bidding patterns. It is not usual for a sale to get cancelled and then the buyer and seller to exchange positive feedback. It looks like this seller was very kind to have given positive feedback to someone who spooked the second bidder in the first auction out of paying $6500. Just enjoy the guitar and be happy.

The guitar was not in my area. California is a big state. I purchased the guitar because I like very much Black finish on a Travis Bean and could not resist. After talking to the seller it seems odd your claim of being offered the guitar. In any case, if you were, you may have been smarter to buy it. Just enjoy me owning the guitar and be happy

charlie's been posting here for a long time, some people's ignorant posts pushed the admin of the site into requiring all forum users to register which charlie did later...
i agree with charlie that some sort of shill bidding or market manipulation occured with the original listing and the reciprical positive feedback over a transaction that wasn't completed was questionable at best.

Eric: Thanks for providing some context on this...yes I have been blabbing on this board since about november 2006 I think....lets see at 114 posts that averages about 1 post every 4 days...sorry to those who think that is a problem. Actually, I bet half of those are on the epic jerry garcia bean thread. Ah those were the days!
Vincent: Like you (I think) I am a fan of the free market and a firm believer that any guitar is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Clearly this guitar was worth $5900 or more because you bought it and probably others would have too. I just did not want it and never commented on the price being too high or otherwise and I am NOT unhappy to NOT own it. When the first auction ended, I did comment that the seller was probably very happy to get $7100. At the time this seemed like a reasonable assumption, but unfortunately for him, I guess that did not work out.

Thanks for chiming in Eric. As I said wrote in my earlier post, the eBay member who won the guitar is a long time member here who buys a lot of Bean guitars and his bids are real as well were the rest of the bids on that auction. In this case however the high bidder/forum member was over excited to own the guitar even though he was not fully prepared to pay for it. The owner did not want to wait for the high bidder to come up with the money nor did the owner want to do any trades and so the two gentlemen agreed to move on. I know the high bidder/forum member personally and I am sure he meant no harm to the auction though the seller was very understanding indeed. The seller supplied me with his home # and with a phone call I was able to feel him out. For the record, I had an e-snipe bid in at $6,000 for the first auction.
I have been consistently paying the highest prices for Travis Bean guitars and will continue to do so. At the moment I will focus on color finish Artist models and any and all Travis Bean wedge model guitars and basses. I pay fast, in cash and by far the highest. vincentgallo@vincentgallo.com if you're thinking of selling
Cases and parts wanted as well
