I'm wondering if any of you have experience playing both beans (standards, specifically) and the kramer DMZ 2000's. I'm considering a trade plus some cash for my bean, and the guitar I'd be trading for is a DMZ 2000.
Any information you can give me would be sweet!

My only advise: Don't trade straight across. Your Travis Bean is probably worth 3 times (maybe more) what the Kramer is worth (assuming the Bean is not messed up) And based upon recent posts at this site, if you have the original case the Bean might be worth 4 or 5 Kramers! (he he :^)

I have a Standard TB, and 450G. the 450G is the same as the DMZ 2000 except for the pickups (450G has Kramer designed/built, DMZ's had Dimarzio's.., both were humbuckers) and the DMZ2000 has coil taps too. so, for what its worth, my 450G compared to my Standard (early model, 1975):
the 450G's neck and fretboard have a different shape and feel. Its not like the difference between a TB and telecaster maple neck, but its different enough that anyone might decide one way or the other as to whether they like the Kramer after playing the Standard. so, play it and decide for yourself on the neck.
controls are similar between the two, the weight of the guitars are identical.
the kramer is not as durable. the 2 bolt neck is not nearly as tough as the TB (of course!!) I'm not impressed with the way the kramer body and neck are joined. I think a wood screw Fender is a more durable neck joint. my 450G uses 2 small fine thread bolts into threads aluminum holes on the neck.
I've had my TB for 14 years, I recently picked up the 450G. I like the 450G a lot, but I kinda wish it was a 350G or a DMZ3000 with single coils, the 450G is too similar to the TB in feel and sound, so that when I play the 450G, I think "why am I not playing the TB??"
in the end, the 450G is a cool guitar and I like it a lot, but the TB is really far and above a better guitar. my advice to you would be to borrow the guitar and see if you like it.
value-wise, DMZ2000s are worth $500-600, a similar TB is at least 7X that based on recent eBay auctions.
I just read Ronnie Wood's auto-bio, there is a picture of him playing a DMZ2000 with the New Barbarians.
