Hi, I wanted to say hi and tell you my Travis story. In 1979 I was 21 and went to the NAMM show in Chicago. To make a long story short, I got to meet Travis and somehow managed to have lunch with him. (... he could not have been cooler to me) Fast forward to 1988 ... I walked into Benny's in Philly and on the wall was Wedge #29. I told Benny I was getting married in a week and did not have the cash ... Benny asked me what ya got (what guitar will you trade) ... so, Wedge #29 cost me my Randy Rhoades Les Paul and pedal board.

Hey KG, After I did that post, I realized it was the 78 NAMM show (National Association of Music Merchants). That means that Travis was still in business.

I grew up with the West Coast Rothchild Rep who was working that show ¦he introduced me to Travis at the booth ¦ and lunch just kind of happened ¦ this was just a quick convention lunch ¦ we grabbed something to eat and sat down at a table ¦ talked ¦ and that was it ¦ he was very cool ¦ just small talk ¦ guitars ¦ music ¦ that was it

It was cool meeting him, but the entire day was culture shock/surreal ¦ getting to chat with Bob Weir ¦ being two feet away from Steve Miller while he was playing ¦ getting my picture taken with George Benson (my friend found it a year later in a Japanese magazine) .. it was just one thing after another ¦ it was a peak life experience ¦

With regard to the Rothchild thing ¦ that was Rothchild as in Paul Rothchild the record producer (Doors ¦ Janis Joplin) I believe his brother ran it ¦ it was a marketing company for high end stuff ¦ Travis, Bartolini/Hi-A pick ups, Furman Parametric EQs and some other stuff that I do not remember ..

BTW, thanks Mr. Admin for this site ¦ after I got the Wedge on the database ¦ I wanted to find out about the pickups ¦for the longest time, I thought the Wedge had Bartolini's ¦ I'm still not sure what they are ...

Joe
