I'll tell ya my take on what happened in this auction.

The guy who won has been an Ebay member for only 2 weeks and likely does not understand and/or know the hazards of the maximum bid / automatic bid system.

Going into the closing seconds of the auction the high bid was $3250, with that bidder, who ended up coming in 2nd place, having shot for the moon with a maximum bid of $4995. His rationale was that he'd win hands down as bidders modestly increased their bids in the last hours and minutes of the auction trying to find his maximum which was over the moon, and time would run out, and he would win somewhere under $3500. He thought he would surely win with this strategy.

The novice winner also had a similar idea, and with 4 seconds left in the bidding he also shot for the moon believing that his maximum bid would only result in a $50 automatic bid increase over eventual 2nd place finisher's maximum bid which he couldn't conceive of being so outlandish (the winner being a novice maybe even thought that his over the top bid would put him $50 over the bid winning with 4 seconds left, $3250, with no competition afterwards as time ran out). The gross miscalculation lies in the winner not realizing that the second place guy also shot for the moon with a maximum of $4995 which made his winning final bid $5045. He wanted to win with such a move but had no idea that the maximum bid of his nearest competitor was so high.

Basically the auction went from $3250 to $5045 in the last 4 seconds! That cannot have been the plan. It was two guys playing a win at all costs strategy, and it left one holdin' the bag.

But I'm talkin' as a guy without that much money and shocked at what would seem a costly mistake, but who knows, the winner may not care about money and just wanted the guitar at any price.

Anyway, this is another example of having our averages skewed by irregular off the board sales prices. I'll eat my South Park cap if these $4000 / $5000 prices for Standards become the norm.
I chalk this one up to craziness.

I hope your right.

If these prices do in fact stick, then buying a Bean is like buying a Veleno, its just not worth what your having to pay for it. I hate to feel this way as I do love these guitars more than anything, but they are just not worth 5k.

I only wish the collectors could see how we used to put these guitars through the ringer night after night.

Hi old bohemien. I am the winning bidder and your supposition, while it makes sense, could not be furthur from the truth. I am a "seasoned" Ebayer, and like all seasoned Ebayers, I use bidnapper. I knew this was giong to go high. The last standard (the white one) went for $4,750 or so. This one is dead mint. Look at the case. Not a scratch on her. One high profile buyer had been extremely kind and agreed to step aside to allow me to replace a guitar I had just sold him. The second place $4,995 was legit, but what is interesting to me is that bidder #3 (I think) had been an Ebayer for less than a week (less time than since the auction began) and had zero feedback. On this account, I already have 2 positives and 5 more owed to me. I have another account with over 400 positives. So, you are mistaken. I paid top dollar and I would do it again. In one year from now, I will be thanking GOD. Next thing you know, movie stars will be offering me the moon.
Welcome to the big leagues Travis bean. It's about time, don't you think? I mean, all of us here know they are a better guitar than ANY Les Paul, and with, what 3,000 made, that is leass guitar to player ratio than most guitars ever.
I am VERY happy with my purchase!

PS:
I am a collector (10 electrics), but I am a player more. I play my Bean every day and record with it or the others at least once a week. I had my Beans registred, but had never posted until today. Not surprisingly, I am a Jerry FREAK!

i agree kevin. i love the thought of some freak with bottomless pockets gasping at my with my dark blue low # artist. playing it like i love it. scratches? dings? ha! unplayed is unloved! besides, if ever a guitar was durable. i mean at some point it is disconcerting that its tough paying the rent and ive got a $5000 guitar. but i love it and wouldnt want it any other way.

forgive me for paying for what I want. I guess I can't win. I'm a 30 year player and I don't know why you think I am not going to play this, or why you could not understand finding an unmolested example of soomething they love.
Am I getting criticized here for spending too much on a guitar?

Please forgive me if you think Ive criticized you. I didnt mean it that way.

I own 5 Beans and have owned a total of 11. That being said, I too love them. Thats awesome its going to a good home and will be played. Yes they are fantastic instruments, but theres nothing more fantastic 2 years ago till today. Why is there so much sudden interest? Age? limited number? famous players/heros? All things that have been a constant(short of age), theres no reason Ive seen for Beans to get so expensive. This price craze is just nuts to me. Could i still buy one? maybe... will I, no. If it doesnt come with 4 tires and a title, Im not paying 5k. That just means theres one less person not grasping at every Bean that comes around, so I guess thats good for all parties looking to get one now.

The same thing happened with Velenos, a buddy bought 3 in the 90s. One was 400.00 and the other 2 800.00 I believe. Then all of the sudden, they are $6-8000.00 guitars almost over night? Again, its just doesnt make any sense.

I will however take issue with this statement:

"I paid top dollar and I would do it again. In one year from now, I will be thanking GOD. Next thing you know, movie stars will be offering me the moon.
Welcome to the big leagues Travis bean. It's about time, don't you think?"

I do believe I have found the problem.

It seems the difference is, my friends and I bought ours because we really liked them (the old Bean site was properly named " The Cult Of Travis Bean"). It didnt take a year for us to "Thank God". I dont love these to make money, I liked them before they were worth their weight in gold and Im sure Ill still be with them after your "movie stars" offer you the moon and you take it. Not to get too personal or lovey with it, but it seems like someone is finger ******* an old friend and we all have to sit by and watch it happen.

dank,
Interesting for you to come out with your story. I hope you really did get the satisfaction of buying that Bean and are not just hyping the market here as a rebuttal to my post which might seem to some as party pooperish. I'll take you at your word, but with a grain of salt.

Scenario #2 (sequel to my above post): The winner cannot come up with the money. A "Second Chance Offer" is given to the 2nd place bidder at $4995, but he declines, never having intended to pay to his maximum. The seller is left with offering a Second Chance to the third place bidder for $3200. Does the seller do it, or does he re-list as he dreams of the moon?

Well enough with all my fanciful moonshine about the now legendary #1370. We live in some interesting Travis Bean times, and to be honest I wouldn't mind having to eat my South Park cap as movie stars fight for the last TBs on earth.

to Kevin....let me try this one last time:I do not care what the guitars are worth.I am NOT buying them to "invest", I am buying them because about 8 years ago I got one and withing days I knew it was the very best guitar I had ever played. I have been playing for 30 years now. If these guitars were $500, I'd own more than 10. And I would play every last one. All I meant was, since they are obviously headed up in price, I am glad I got one in my possession before the only place to get one was at Chi Mucic Exchange for $12,000, or before they are just out of reach for me. I am an unemployed carpenter who had 7 reconstructive hip surgeries. I happened to save a lot of my earnings and put the money into wise investments. Now, I can replace the koa that I just sold.....even though it's costing me $1,000 more. I can live with that.
Finally...and again: This guitar is for me to use daily and enjoy. The fact that it's mint is icing. Would you be happier if it had stayed under the bed of the widdow from whom it came? Even her husband who past away NEVER even played the guitar. So, I am taking this guitar out from under some 80 year old's bed (God bless her soul), getting her some cash that I'm sure she could use, and am bringing this guitar back into the sunshine where it will be used to create music on a daily basis. Also, the guitar would never have been registered either, so none here would have even known about it.
If you can't understand this, I guess you never will agree with me. But, for wjhat it's worth, I will repeat myself one last time.I LOVE guitars, I LOVE vintage amps and pedals. Most of all, I love Travis Bean guitars. Did I pay too much?Probably. But, I am happy that I found this guitar and did not lose the auction. Again, I play EVERY DAY and record EVERY WEEK. Please, can you try to ba happy for me and say, nice going, congradulations? Or is it something else? Are you jelious? Are you mad that I got the guitar and you didn't or are you mad that I paid so much. I hate to break it to you, but in the year 2007, $5,000 just is not that much money. You can not buy any car completely for that amount.
So, if you can't understand, I'm sorry. And if I have offended you in any way, I'm sorry. I'm just joyful that I won this guitar.

Knock it off kids or I'll pull the car over and...oh sorry I thought I was somewhere else.

Well let's see how #1710 does. I'm guessing not as high as #1370....but who knows.

Here we go again. There will likely be a movie star bidding, so my bet is this one breaks the 5k mark as well. Original case, great condition, and now, everybody wants one.PLEASE, don't blame me. I only want one nice Artist, and one colored Bean. You guys can have the Wedges......trust me, the 5k mark is here to stay. Whether it's collectors driving up the market or just that finally the collector world has taken notice.
Here is an interesting fact: I get the Vintage Guitar Mag. Price guide every year. 3 yrs ago the estimated price was $1,500. The next year (2006)it went to $3,000. I did the math, and I think that figures to an 85% rise in one year. In '07 they still had them at $3,000. No change. Now, celeberaties, one in particular have been trying to buy every one he can get. Good for him, and good for the guitars that we own. These guitars have been undervalued for YEARS.
Either way.......
Godspeed.

i agree they've been undervalued for a long time. but i'm a johnny come lately, i got a really nice one about 6 months ago which looking at it now seems like a steal. i got a tb2000 two months ago for $1850 which also seems like a steal if the basses reflect any of this madness that the guitars are showing.

I keep going back to this though, not my idea, someone from the ea forums i think put it out there originally but it makes sense so i pass it on. Is a pre cbs strat worth what it sells for? a 59 les paul goldtop? a ******* parker fly? if you ask me, not a ******* chance. seems like a month ago you could've had a bean for the price of a pre cbs pick guard.

This reminds me of a post from the Magnatone chat room a while back. Another group member had posted a review on Harmoney Central. One of the group regulars scolded him and asked people not to post reviews on such a public forum. I did not understand his reasoning, but I guess he did not want the "collectors" to discover the unique and incredible amps, but he was not looking to buy more, so I just did not understand the logic. Vintage gear. It's a crazy friggen world out there. Just let me have my one or two Beans, and next time I register them, it will be under a false email address.

Just remember that if this market is driven up by one or two guys then the market will drop like a rock when they get bored or move on to a different guitar obsession. It has happened before.

I'm sorry, but I think dank is full of it. his first comments, about shooting for the moon and his last comment "I'm NOT buying to invest" is contradicting.

he will be buying up all the kramers in a few years and saying...

10 years ago when I laid my hands on a kramer 450g, I knew it was the best thing ever.

you're a collector, collectors are investors, you're investing.

just admit it sir.

OK, yes, on second thought, I will GLADLY admit it: I AM AN INVESTOR. But more than that I am a collector and even more than that I am a PLAYER. Is there something wrong with that? I worked 20 years in construction until I could not walk. I was putting bundles if shingles on my shoulder, carying them to the ladder unsing a cane, then, I would drop the cane at the bottom of the ladder, go up on the roof, drop the shigles and get onto the roof sitting on my good hip (left). I did this 6-7 days a week. I had a bone disease when little called Legg-Calve-Perthese Disease. When all the other roofers were at the bar or smoking crack, I was still there working. I worked sundays. I worked 4th of Julys, I worked in the rain. I put every last dime into the stock/bond market.
Then I had a total hip replacement and could not work anymore. A few months after surgery, I met a guy who turned me onto pedals...Mutron, Lovetone, Way Huge, old Maxon, uni-vibe type stuff, etc...I had played guitar for over 25 years and I never knew this world exsisted. I started "collecting" (investing in?) pedals, because I was sure I could not afford to collect amps or guitars. I then got Aspin Pittman's book, and sure enough, I got the amp bug. I bought another guitar and had one custom made. A friend sold me a Travis. All of the sudden, I was selling stocks to buy more...I could not get enough.
As of today, my only stock market investments are in a tax sheltered IRA. I have made a move from stocks and started into guitars. Right now, I own about 400 pedals, about 50 amps and 6 guitars.....SIX.
Would you be happier if I had just kept all my money in stocks, as that is a true "investment"? I have a friend who just bought a current production SG and Marshall and he is hoping his son will start to enjoy playing. He keeps asking me: "This guitar might be worth $100,000 in 50 years right?". I tell him that there is no way to tell, but I doubt it.
So, go ahaed and laugh at me, or spit on me and curse. Is it not good to invest in what you love? My gear gets used daily. Again, we record once a week, at LEAST. I play EVERY last guitar, even my dead-mint '67 SG even though I put a ding in it and am scared to play it. I don't understand your beef.....what's wrong with investing in something you love? Call it collecting, call it investing. Some rich guys collect cars. I sure can't afford to collect cars. I can't really afford any more guitars. At this point, if I want to buy a guitar, I have to sell an amp or some pedals.
So, there you have it, my life story. Now, go ahead and judge me. I really don't care. Yes, it sucks that I paid over 5k for 1370. I agree with what many people have said, that when a certian someone stops buying, the market will settle down. So what. These guitars will never be sold, unless I am facing losing my house....which brings up a good point: is a homeowner an invester? How could you pay $500,000 for a house that was worth only $200,000 5 years ago. Boy, what ******* would do that? How dare they buy a house at that price? It MUST be inflated value....the market is going to drop, right? House prices have been doubling and tripling....how dare these people. What about the guys who buy 5 condo units before the building has broken ground? Am I more evil then they?
So, to me, this arguement in a no-win and could go on forever. I bought all those crazy pedals because I had never heard what they could do. It was like one day someone opened a door and there were all these effects, and I was like....HuuUHHUHHHH???!!!!
When my friend showed me his white pearl artist last week, I was shaking. Literally. I was ******* shaking. It was so beautiful, I almost cried. I did cry when I got my white artist. I showed it to Slash and expected him to make an offer, but he was buying pedals from me. Why not get on these rock stars who have hundreds of 50s LPs tht they never use. My hero, Jerry Garcia used the same guitar for 11 years. ELEVEN YEARS. over 80 shows a year. Most guys switch guitars for each song they played.
So, go ahead and critisize me. So what. I collect. I invest. If it is so wrong, you guys need to organize and get hold of your congressmen, and make it law that people can only own 5 guitars or 2, or one. That's fine. I am not breaking laws, I earned every last penny I have with my own sweat. If I want to buy 500 Travis Beans, I will. In fact, I'm going to buy every last one that comes up on ebay. I am going to bid $15,000 on this one that is listed now. So go play your guitar and stop critisizing me. If I own less guitars, it will not make you a happier person. That needs to come from yourself. And what I am seeing on this thread is disgruntled and jealous people. Sorry. I am VERY sorry. I am not trying to offend anyone. I give gear to friends who can't afford it. I gave someone a Mutron Bi-Phase because he had longed for one his whole life, but could never afford one. I GAVE him one and paid the shipping. I have given more stuff to people than I can remember. Just last I gave a Tube Screamer (original) to the guy who sold me my artist. He didn't ask for it. It has been YEARS. I GAVE it to him because I love the guitar so much and every day when I play it, I think of him. He sold it to me at a fair price because it was not getting used. I am a guitar playing junkie. I play daily. I live and breathe guitas and amps and effects. I join groups that talk about nothing but gear. it is my life.
SO: If I choose to invest in Travis Bean Guitars rather than large cap global stocks, I am not doing so with malicious imntent. I am doing it out of LOVE.
Now, I sold a couple and I want to replace them Well, guess what, it's costing me more to replace them than what I got for the couple he bought. big wiff. I have sold stocks at a loss too. This is life. You keep rtrying and keep learning.
Obviously, some of what I said has been an exaduration. I do not want to offend people. But I am an artist and I am very sensitive. So, please don't criticize me. Ok, I am investing, if that's what you want to hear. But I am not hoarding. EVERYTHING I own gets used. To me, that is the key issue.
-Peace

hahahaha....well, looks like I got JACKED. Now there are 3 Beans up at Ebay and one is an artist for $5,000. Oh well. I am done though. I have found a white artist, a white standard a koa artist (for 3k) another artist for 3k, another artist for 3.5k and two basses.
This will be the final test. Go Vincent, buy them all. Who cares. I got mine, now it's time to make music. I never posted to this board befor and I am likely done now.
What I would like to see is for someone to step up to the plate with a colored one with a BIN price on there.
Gpd bless you all! I hope you get $10,000 a piece for them

so now, you should get mad at these late sellers...people who are willing to sell now that the market has taken off. If anyone is greedy, it is them. Now, the guitars these people are selling will go from a regular guy to some millionare. Who is the greedy one? I did not advertise the Beans I sold. Someone sought me out and I wanted to replace the ones I sold. I ended up losing money.
Who is greedy? Who is in it for the money? I would say, the true Travis Bean lover is the guy who keeps his guitars and uses them.
That is one beautiful Artist and I sure wish I could afford it, but I now have more than I need. Let's see if the market is just hype or the real deal. When I get my new white artist, I'll list it for $20,000.,
This has turned into a game., and I am the loser because I was a fool to sell the ones I had. I lost. I am guilty and I am ashamed. I am sorry.
When this is all said and done, and I have the guitars in my possession which are replacements for what I sold, I will tell the whole story. You will be shocked. You will be angy and feel pity.
Money Greed jealousy anger.
Excuse me while I play my guitar (as jimi once said)

dank

the anger people have against you and gallo is somewhat misdirected. it's not unreasonable or baseless, but it is misdirected. players who don't have money or a bean see them as completely unattainable now. they look at you and gallo, someone who shelled out more money than they can to get one. it's frustrating. "how'm i ever gonna get one now when these fux are driving the price up like this?" they look at the people who are "forced to sell" and identify with the poor man's plight, some poor bastard working bullshit jobs to support himself between tours, as the prices keep going up it just becomes reckless to carry that much value around in a gigbag. you wouldn't dare tour with one of these things. what if it gets lost, damaged, stolen. how many hours do you have to work to make that back? so now you have to sacrifice tone, part of your passion for playing might die when the bean goes, you're forced to go with a lesser instrument. so from that perspective it's impossible to NOT be angry at the people who are overpaying. and after you've played a bean, at least for me, i don't want to play anything else. i've got a 92 les paul, a good guitar, but it'll never get touched again. unless someone with alot more money than me makes me an offer that would be stupid to refuse. part of me will hate the person who does this.

marxism. classic class struggle. it's not fair to you that people assume you're glutnous and greedy. it's not fair to others that they struggle to make rent and can't afford something they really want. it's compounded by the community that's sprouted up around beans, because alot of it comes from punkish ideals, it makes the anger that much more bitter and pointed.

But isn't it inevitable after all? Since Beans are no longer being made, the prices would almost have to increase. They likely won't go as high as Velenos or 59 Les Pauls, this is a temporary spike on values/prices. My guess is that they will rest in the Morsrite territory. If you lust after a Bean because of Albini et al, and you haven't reconciled that you live in a competitive capitalist society and you're hanging on to punklish, marxist ideals - then you need to evolve. The most punk thing to do is join the system, make some dough, buy your Bean and a sailboat if you like, yet hang on to your punk ideals and **** up the sytem from the inside rather than bitch about it from the sidelines.

Thanks Hogrot and GG. Hogrot, your post makes perfect sense to me. The only thing that I have been trying to point out, is I am NOT in the same league as gallo.I have debt that is killing me....I am spending money on the Beans because that is what I LOVE. And I only want two, a nice colored one and an artist. That's it. I have found one or two more, so I am going to buy them. I LOVE them. They are better than any 50s Les paul or Strat I have EVER played. I AM NOT WEALTHY. I am in fact unemployed.
A couple of years ago I fell in love with Fender tweeds. Yes, I was angry that I could not afford a Bassman. Well, one Christmas one popped up for $8,999. I clicked BIN. I put out credit card money, sold retirement funds and sold whatever I had to to get that '59 Bassman.
OK, the very next morning, GG emailed me that he had passed on a white artist because the pickups were not original. That is what I call a cosmic blessing. Well, guess who just emailed me and asked: "please sell me that white artist"?
I will be residing under a rock...no address, changed phone # and no more email.....Into the wilderness.
I am on the run and in hiding....LOL!!!!
But, I do understand the anger. I am angry at myself for selling and angry that the prices I have to pay are inflated. Fricken SUCKS. I do know that most Bean owners own more than one Bean. I think we all know the reason for that. They are hands down the very best guitar EVER designed, PERIOD. I have been playing solidly for over 30 years and NEVER have I played a guitar that even comes cose.
As far as Mosrite: I have wanted to try one for years. I love the Ventures and Nokie Edwards is a huge influence. 1/2 hour ago I picked up the Mosrite that I bought a week ago on ebay. The guitar is beat to shit and the whammy bar is broke in half. For this I paid $2,700. I have played it for 10 minutes and I actually don't like it. This is my world. I am a guitar player. This is what I do. I understand the feeling of being priced out. IT SUCKS. If someone wanted to borrow one of my Beans, or if I had 5 and I could see that someone was just in love with one the way I am, I might give it to the person...for free.
Anyways, I am done. I don't know about gallo, but I am completely done. I have more Beans than I ever want. I may have one to sell. NOT my white one. I will die with that guitar.
BTW, I have met some unbelievably kind and great people on this board. Bean-a-holics are brothers and I love you all. I will register and post photos of my new white when it arrives.,

dank,

you seem like a really nice guy, and i am not questioning your love of beans. it upsets me that you felt like someone pressured & prodded you to sell your Beans but at the end of the day it was your decision. i am sorry you regret it, that really really sucks. i think what some people on this board were trying to point out is that you bid on the last one because you wanted it NOW whereas, if you waited for one of the next auctions you might have gotten yourself a better deal.

i don't own one yet and i have been on this board for about a year now. i fell in love with beans when i saw albini play one live in pittsburgh in 1994 and then listening to silkworm use them over the years. i wasn't very tech savvy for years and didn't consider trying to buy a guitar over the internet until recently. i kept my eyes out for them but wasn't nearly as commited as some of the guys who regularly post on this site. i figure i will get a good deal on one one of these days and never sell it. i also figure i have time on my side (i'm 31 now), but conversly i play in a gigging band in the bay area and it sure would be nice to rock a bean out live.

my predicment which maybe some of you older wiser guys could help me with is how in the world do i convince my wife to allow me to spend over $2k on a guitar? has anyone done this successfully? :D i also have a baby on the way, which i am absolutely elated about, but i think doesn't help my chances of convincing the little lady that this guitar is worth it.

i only want one. i will force myself to stop there.

i am not a charity case, but if anyone out there wants to give a "player" a good deal, i am here, waiting, patiently.

OK, I think I have this figured out now. This whole run up in values is because of 2 people. One is an obsessive guy with money and the other got swept up with the first and is frantically trying to buy back a couple guitars he sold to the same first guy! This frenzy won't last. Might as well sit on the sidelines and wait for the values to come back to where they belong. Beans will never have the mass appeal that 50's Fender strats or 50's Les Pauls have. Just not going to happen. Beans will always be a cult item and though they will increase in value I don't think there is enough rock and roll cultural heritage to drive the prices into the stratosphere like the big 50's guitars. Us Beanaholics know they are cool, but we are in a very small cult of folks who like them for the sound not because some Rock star played one. OK I love Jerry Garcia as much as the next Jerry fan, but he played 50's Les Pauls, 50's and 60's strats too, not to mention those oddball custom jobs. And the Albini fans and the Dennison fans are not in the same league (in terms of quantities) as the mass market appeal of Clapton, Hendrix, Allman, etc. That is the rock and roll history stuff that takes these things into the stratosphere. Don't worry Eric...just be patient. Or maybe you were hoping dank will toss one your way for cheap? Based upon what I've observed the last few days, nothing would surprise me.

hey charlie, i agree with everything you said, very well thought out. that's why i am going to sit and wait. i don't expect a handout out of this, just maybe a good honest deal on a banged up bean that a collector wouldn't take a second look at. i am sure there are some out there.

I might have one for you....just to show people that I practice what I preach. Where do you live? The one at Guitar Ctr Hollywood sold two days ago. It would not surprise me if that is one of the Ebay ones right now.
And, yea, Charlie, that's pretty much it. I wanted to sell my beat to shit red one and the koa was fine. I knew I could replace it. So, yes, I am tring to replace what I sold....again, I did not advertise my guitars for sale. I was sought out.
As for the prices, who knows where it will end. I agree thast this is a temperary spike. It will calm down....but, remember that white Standard with all the Mo-Jo that sold for $4,750 about three weeks ago? I think those ones (color) are going to hit 5k every time....may be not. But, again, yes, I just want two nice ones to replace....then I am done. I will disclose what I paid, how much I sold for and what I have found since.
If anyone wants to see pictures of the beat up red one (the only red I have ever seen), just let me know.
And as for the prices, the Artist on Ebay now, which starts at $5,000....that will tell us a lot. If that one sells, then we know this is real. I am NOT bidding, and I don't think Gallo is. He wants color and has already showed me where a beautiful koa Artist was for $3,000.

(PS: Jerry Garcia's two custom guitars were made by Doug Irwin. He played "wolf" in '74. In '75 Wolf went to the bench for more work and he picked up a Bean. Until about '77 he played the Bean. Switched back to the wolf for a couple years- the bird's eye maple...then, in 1979, he started playing "TIGER". That was the BEAUTIFUL 12 layers of wood and brass with cocobolo on top. He played that guitar for 11 years without change. In the 90s, a guy named Steve Cripe sent him another custom job, loosely based on Tiger. Jerry loved it. He swapped the electronics out and played "Bolt" until the day he died. On the night of Jerry's final show, they had some problems with the MIDI in Bolt, and Wolf was brought out and used, for the second set I believe. I have an exact replica of Tiger and am having a Wolf replica made. Both guitars took and have taken over 2 years to make)

Another thing to consider concerning the pivotal 5K Artist auction (#1235) is whether the collector/investor class of buyer sees this as an opportunity to raise market value on what they already have and to shake loose more Beans from weak hands at higher prices. I believe this step eventually needs to happen, but is it premature now although the stars are aligned at this time to take this advantage? The question now is will the Big Boy$$ step up and take the opportunity to lay the groundwork for higher prices and support the value of their investment; or will they defer, and wait for another ripe time to support their dreams for this market? In a relatively thin market, as this, do collector/investors take notice of opportunities to support higher prices, continue the upward trends and add value to their inventories; or do I give them too much credit? At this time, all is riding on the sale of #1235 for 5K which may happen and act as a guiding light, or it may fail resulting in more market churning at $2500-3500. Whatever happens at this juncture, sellers should see which way the wind is blowing and demand more since the stage is well set to get it.
