As pointless as it is to say, I love my Standard. However, I loooove the trapezoid inlays on the Artist and I was wondering, if I am able to find a standard that isn't in great shape, will its neck fit into the Standard body? I imagine it's too thick.
I wouldn't want to make any mods other than a swap... I'd want to be able to put it all back in the long run.

Well.... I think it is better if you don`t. first of all that would make me cry and second of all it would be kind of senseless to modify two rare Travis Beans just for cosmetic reasons.
When leaving these arguments out of the picture, It would still be the question if these TB parts would fit together. Most TB`s have some deviations. Why not just trade your TB with someone else? Your standard, for some other Artist?

just swapping necks? sure why not. if its the same thickness body, you won't have a problem. if the body thickness is different, it's back will look odd.
if your standard is pristine with original pickup wiring intact, to swap necks you'll need to unsolder and resolder, thus degrading the pristine originality. but unless its otherwise pristine and you plan to one day sell it, its not a big deal.
almost like swapping one set of OEM rims for another set and keeping the originals in the garage.

Ah, I hadn't thought about having to re-solder pickups. I guess I'll scrap that idea then :)

I am not sure if all Beans have this feature, but mine had a channel milled into the aluminum that allowed the wires to run between the body and neck, and into the control cavity.
This, of course, made it possible to remove the entire neck assembly without having to rewire anything.
You should be able to take your pickups loose, look into the cavity, and observe the routing of the wires. They more than likely do not actually pass through the neck at any point.

I observed the same thing as Bastin. The wires are very snug in the channel, so it can be tricky sliding necks in and out of bodies and keeping the wires in the channel. BE VERY SLOW AND CAREFUL
