Well, I’m sure you’d be interested in this particular TB.. It’s One-of-a-kind.
I got this recently from my Brother-in-law, Bill Lomenick. He was the machinist who made the necks for TB.
This particular one, like I say, is One-of-a-kind. It’s a ‘Standard’ (Obviously) but here’s why it’s so unique.
Bill explained to me, that at one point in time, they were having a hard time finding the ebony for the fret board. So what they planned on doing was making fret boards out of phenolic resin. And they made ONE. A source for ebony was found and all the other TB’s continued on as such.
So, this is the only anything, TB made with a phenolic fret board, and that is the reason there is no serial number stamped on it.

Asked Bill about the ‘history’ of the ax, and he told me that this was just kinda’ The Shop Ax. Anyone who came in and wanted to play a demo, or if anyone just wanted to play, this was what was used.
Needless to say, it wasn’t treated with too much kindness. It has it’s share of ‘dings’ in it, but I suppose that’s to be expected.
Anyway, when TB closed shop in 79’ Bill just scooped this up and took it home. His daughter plunked around on it for a while, but other than that, it just been collecting dust in a closet.
So, when they last came up here to WA. State, he asked me if I’d like to have it. (Well, HELL YEAH, I’d like to have it! ;^) I, and both my son’s play, so who wouldn’t want this!
Only thing wrong with it (Other than needing a through cleaning and a new set of strings … And the nut being re-glued) was one of the pots were broken.
Bought a new pot, installed it, and is as good as new.
So, everything electronic in it is original except for one pot. And everything else is perfect (Other than it being beat up a bit)
Neck and fret board is fine … Machine heads are all still nice and tight … P/U’s and electronics are perfect. It’s a pretty awesome axe ;^)
So anyway, here’s another one, alive and well .. And accounted for.
