TB500 #312 on eBay. No cracks. Looks like OHSC. Sansui style knobs. Magnolia body. Embossed PU covers. Small toggle below the bridge.. not sure what that could be.

Seems like it's probably a switch for phase inversion, right? Did anybody ask? Any chance that it's factory?

Hi ¦. Nice guitar!!!

Phase inversion ¦ would this make a HB out both single coils?

Also, I was surprised by the covers instead of the P90 looking pups ¦. Thanks to the photo gallery, it appears that this was a change at the end of the run ¦..

You can wire two single coil pickups out of phase to have a hum-canceling position. It doesn't make it sound like a humbucker though. Usually you get a characteristic out-of-phase sound that can be really interesting. Think of positions 2 and 4 on a strat, the "cluck" sound. I have a jazzmaster wired like this, and it's really convenient to have a quiet setting, if for instance you're using a distorted sound on a quiet song. An easier way to make this modification, instead of drilling for a new switch, is to replace your volume pot with one that pulls out, and have the up position be out-of-phase.
