Have TB1000 #923...very special bean...has custom Travis Bean middle pickup (similar to a TB500 pickup...custom installed by Mr. Bean himself. He also installed custom wiring/pickup selection, to be able to use any combination of all three pickups, and use the neck and bridge pickups in phase or out of phase. This guitar was originally in koa wood. I had it custom painted in Jerry Garcia's off white color, done professionally in nitro. I'm interested in selling locally...I live in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, NY. I bought this guitar at 30th St Guitars in Manhattan. If interested, please email me...I'd be more than happy to have you come look at and try out the guitar at your convenience. You can email me at hyrams@hotmail.com. thanks

I don't have documentation...I was told this by the owner of the guitar shop that sold the guitar to me. As far as the refin, I had it done to make this guitar as close to Jerry Garcia's guitar as possible...the refin is dead on...tone wise, it is capable of all the tones of Garcia's Irwin's guitars, the only thing it doesn't have is the effects loop. In any case, when I pulled out the guitar to take pix, I played it, and realized i couldn't part with the guitar, so i'm keeping it...so, in response, the guitar is definitely interesting to some, myself included!

Garcia played a TB-500 for about a year. He used a white arist for likely less than a dozen shows. Just in case anyone cares.

I remember seeing this guitar for sale in the store, before it was sold. I don't know their rationale for saying that the extra pickup was original from the factory, but it's a real TB500 pickup, so it seems reasonable to me. This guitar was discussed in depth in some other thread from a long time ago, about them raising and lowering their prices, etc. It's pretty cool and weird.

Yeah...the store did some tap dancing with the price, doesn't matter...the guitar made somebody happy.

I can't remember the guy's name...he's Matt Brewster's (owner of 30th St. Guitars in NY) main refin guy...does all his work. He does really primo all nitro refin work...everything I've seen him do is excellent. By the way, in my original post, I incorrectly stated that two of the toggles make the humbucking pickups in phase and out of phase...they actually make them single coil/humbucking. With this possibility and the added TB500 pickup, you get a true myriad of tones.
