This is something unique.. and odd. Here is a TB2000 body, finished, but the neck slot is on the front vs. the back??

WOW!!!
That IS odd! It's like they wanted to make something like a 500 bass!
Great looking body though. I don't make bass necks, but if some one was to buy that and I'm sure they will! I do make the control cover that will fit it. (Sorry for the shameless plug!)
Seroiusly, the body looks great. I like the way the grain almost follows some of the contours.
Hmmm, I'll bet that TB bass pickup on eBay would work great with this body! Makes me almost want to make a neck for it!

I sent out some feelers regarding this body, and will report back if I find anything. They were planning on putting out a TB500 version of the bass.. but the body design was different (just like how the 500 is different that TB1000 models). There was only a prototype produced.
Someone told me they contacted the person listing this auction, and he said he picked this up (along with other bodies similar to this) from the Mighty Mite auction many years ago.
Those of you that are unfamiliar with Mighty Mite, when TBG closed Mighty Mite picked up many bodies and necks with plans for continuing on the production... Mighty Mite then went out of business soon after, and items went on the auction block yet again.

TB500 Bass was listed in dealer price lists as early as 11/78 and called a TCDB. $750 v. $1050 for a TB2000.
maybe they made some complete TB500 basses, prototypes if not a few completed units. maybe this body was a prototype since it looks like it would need both a rear cover plate and a pickguard.
