Hi Guys,
First time posting here - I recently acquired my first Bean, a tb1000s serial number 1111. I got it quite substantially below current market price as a previous owner has modified (badly!) the body, by sanding the bottom curves into more of a Les Paul shape ðŸË"« it also has no pickguard, and aftermarket strap buttons. The good parts - perfect neck, original pickups and electronics.
I am first and foremost a player so the aesthetics don't hugely bother me. However it would be great to restore to its former glory! I am based in the UK, so my options are unfortunately limited.
Does anyone have any ideas on the best approach to its restoration? I have considered three:
1. Try and source some koa to fix the body, by sawing off the offending parts, replacing with new and reshaping. The difficulty will be sourcing the koa here in the UK, and finding a template for the body.
2. Try and source a body from EGC. The cost worries me though!
3. Same as 1, however complete with easily obtainable hardwood and refinish the body in white/cream nitrocellulose.
What do you guys think? Interested to hear your opinions.
Thanks,
Harry

Hi Harry,
Congrats on your Bean. It's still possible to find Original Travis Bean Bodies. When they closed shop there were many leftovers that were already finished. Post a wanted add on different sites and you may have some luck. As far as having EGC make you a new body,Kevin the owner is a great guy and will treat you fair send him an email and you might be pleasantly surprised. Good luck!
Peace, Pete

Thanks for your reply Pete.
I think getting an original body would be my preferred option.
If anybody reading this has or knows of one for sale, let me know! Thanks, Harry
