attention chicago Shellac fans. albini and company will be playing four shows this month of april:
*friday the 15th at the Bottom Lounge @ 9pm.
*saturday the 16th at Martyr's, first at 12 noon then at 9pm.
*sunday the 17th at Martyr's @ 9pm.
even if albini chooses not to play his by now famous TB 500 (that i know of he also plays a stratocaster) he, and the rest of the band always put up a great show (todd trainer is a great drummer, and even better live).
i do not recall shellac playing in chicago in at least two years. even if you live in indiana or milwaukee the trip is worth it. trust me.

Steve plays nothing but his TB500 live. The only other guitars he's ever played live is one of his Veleno guitars at the Skin Graft showcase at Lounge Ax, and when they played as the Sex Pistols, he played a cream colored Les Paul (if memory serves correctly) to keep with the looking like Steve Jones circa 1977.
But really... who cares? haha

too bad i did not make it to that show.
the idea of albini looking and playing like steve jones sounds interesting. on the other hand, david yow inpersonating johnny rotten must have been worth the price of admition!
as far as albini's guitars is concerned, a friend of mine saw him play a black strat several years ago and i heard about his veleno guitar as well. i am sure the man has played several different guitars over the years until he found the TB500.
but, like you said, who cares? he can come out on stage with a mandolin for all i care...it will still be a great show!

i saw him in london last november and he didnt seem to have anything other than the 500 with - he broke a string and just restrung on the spot. no back up. they are awesome live.
