TB1000S on ebay currently. Odd thing, it states 'Koa Body #547', but the image shows the headstock stamp as #267. Not sure if this was a typo, or if this was a guitar assembled from parts post factory?

TB1000S #547 is was registered in the database in 2003 and included OHSC. The listing above does not have a OHSC.
Thanks!

HI,
Is it just me, or does the headstock on this one look funny? The area between the nut and the "T" looks kind of short and the radius on each side isn't dipping in as far as I normally see on these. I don't know, it just looks different. Nice looking guitar though, to expensive for me, but then again, I'm not a collector. CRAP! Sorry, I don't want to get that all started again!

This one looks pretty cool to me. What is the consensus on the finish....Is the sunburst original??? It does look like the neck has a wider nut than normal perhaps. Too bad so expensive and no shipping. someone in UK should be checking it out.

It's definately all original, i have noticed from some of the other pics posted that the sharpness of the curve does seem a little different on some of them. The guitar isn't sunburst but does have a lovely glow to it when the light catches.

OK I looked at the photos again...I thought it was a sunburst, especially that shot of the back. So are the darker edges just due to the laquer finish aging, or maybe smoke? Its a cool looking effect whatever it is.
Holmes: chill out dude...sure, maybe its overpriced, but let the market take care of it. There is no law against fishing.

Gorgeous guitar. It reminds me of the one shown in Tony Bacon's various guitar encyclopedias. The finish is similar.
One minor correction to the E-Bay listing - a TB has 22 frets (not 24).

BoulderBean: Great catch! Upon seeing this guitar, I thought the exact same thing- This guitar looks EXACTLY like the Bean featured on Page 94 of Tony Bacon's "The Ultimate Guitar Book".
When I first saw the picture of that Bean in his book back in 1993, I thought it was an unusual example- an interesting (almost sunburst) finish, what appears to be a "narrower" than usual headstock (as Greg Baily also noticed...), and the different style control knobs.
The one for sale looks identical- Plus I believe Tony Bacon is a UK author....Could it be that this is the guitar pictured in his book?? hmmm....

1 bidder with 2 bids....cool guitar, I am not surprised it sold, especially considering the recent lack of beans available.
uh oh, I think I hear the sound of Holmes' head exploding :^)

you are right charlie, and it echoed right across north west london. that is a rediculous price - i dont think even gallo would have paid that much for it. however charlie, i dont know if you meant that in an insulting way, because luckily i own 3 and half travis beans so im quids in. great news!
still, congratulations to the seller though. i paid £1500 hundred for pre 1000s/n narrow horn bean not but a year ago. i genuinly thought that it would not sell. it'll be interesting to see what the next one goes for and if theyve all jumped up in price again. its been a while since one came up. imagine what a 500 would go for...

I got #267 delivered around two weeks ago. It is a refin in slight sunburst. Looks like it was done a long time ago. The pickguard was glued back to tight to the pu's, normally there is around 1,5mm space, so it was hard to get the pu's out to check the originality etc. I succeeded finally. Even when I had the guitar the guy that sold it to me kept on saying it was original and best of all that it's not sunburst! He did not want to take responsibility for anything. Sad world:(
The guitar sound and plays great though;)
Thanks a lot Richard!

Ouch! That is pretty sleazy. I feel for you because I experienced the exact same situation from a seller who refused to acknowledge an obvious refin. Is it possible that the refin was done at the factory? or is it an amateur job?

Looks like the refin job has been done a long time ago, seems to me that the original layer has not been removed or treated or anything. The new layer is simply sprayed on top of the original. The top layer shows stress cracks everywhere in the length of the body as the joining of the two types of paint is not good. technically this is not so good but it gives a real vintage look, like one of my strats. Anyway, this was a bit of a setback but except from this she is original and plays and sounds great.
