I have a TB1000A (703) that I loaned to a friend, and in a freak accident, the Koa (natural) body dropped straight on the strap button from a good height. The body splintered into more than a dozen pieces. There are a few other little things, but mainly just that the body is shattered.

Anyone have a guess as to how much this devalued the instrument? The last one to sell on eBay was for $7,000, but mine was a little rougher than that. I have taken it to a luthier whom I trust (I bought it from him in 1993-ish), and he thinks that he can put it back together, but that it won't (obviously) be the same again. It is a very sentimental guitar for me (lots of time on the road, and played on a handful of records), so just asking for it to be replaced is kind of a non-starter.

I see that a body was sold on eBay a few years ago.

Anyway, any constructive comments would be helpful.

Thanks!

S

I'm really sorry for your loss!

Kevin Burkett @ Electrical Guitar Company

Although I do not own one of his, I had the pleasure of playing one of his Wedges. In my opinion, he is the Bean Doctor.

To look at in a positive light, at least you got it back ¦ frequently they go lost

Well, I tried Burkett, and he was quick to reply and very kind, but had no bodies....

His guitars are sure pretty.

We'll see what happens as it is "repaired." Does anyone know what the value loss would be? It was in pretty solid B shape (B+ when I got it 20 years ago). Now it will be a bunch of glue holding some wood together....

I'm trying to figure out for insurance reasons.

Cheers to all. Hold your babies close!

Scott

Hi Scott, sorry to hear about your Bean!

Did you ever get anywhere with a repair? If not, would you consider selling your TB1000 as it is?

Feel free to message me at j_morris@hotmail.co.uk

Regards,
Jamie
