I don't like doing it, but no one wants my exquisite 1985 Martin J12-40M jumbo 12-string and I have some crucial fetching up to do. Thirty years I've had this magnificent instrument (the 12-string, only twenty-five), but conditions change over the course of time... and maybe I am an acoustic guy now.

Asking 2200 Euros, folks; for American dollars, I'll cut that to $3000... but I'll entertain your reasonable offer. You may comment at the black hole which is my blog, http://nastyliberal.blogs.....y-travis-bean-guitar.html if you wish.

The synthesizer controller required three small holes to mount, easily filled; I will of course remove it and provide photos in response to serious inquiry. Now, this price is not going down, folks. It fact, we're going to 2300 Euros, $3200US; however, I will discuss fine points (shipping, and such).

I'm looking at the sorry condition of these (few) recent sales and all I can say is, Wow! "Belt buckle rash"? How does that happen? I guess I look stupid because I wear my belt offset one notch to the left. Also suppose it's stupid I wax my guitars each time I change the strings. I know I've always gotten funny looks on account of always carrying my guitar with me instead of leaving it exposed; a laughing stock I've been too, for holding to equipment maintenance instead of smashing. So? I'm cheap!

Long story short: no buckle rash; no finish checking; body finish is worn through in two spots--where the guitar meets my hip and where my forearm rests--this guitar has always been played after all, but no dents and no serious dings; Imron-coated neck immaculate, that worked as it should. New price: $5000, or "Best Offer" if it's a good one. Original Hard Shell Case, although I've of course marred that with stickers too (big ones, at that); pictures to follow.

One issue I did neglect to mention: the pickguard actually fell off this guitar a long, long time ago; the photos I posted thus far, it's actually taped on. Obviously I saved it, but I never saw the need for it to be on the guitar (I don't think it ever mitigated the top-heaviness measureably and yes as i said earlier the finish is worn off where my forearm rode the instrument). Oh, and I'm back in Eastern Pennsylvania by the way, so if you're on the Middle Atlantic Coast it's easy enough to see this marvelous all-original guitar firsthand. Adding photo sans pickguard now:

Also added a blurry close-up of the worst ding on the guitar... photos of its case I expect to post later today after sunrise, and I suppose I should open the instrument up and look at the pot codes as well.

I think I'll wait until the asking price crests above $6500 before I make my move and pounce.

Good-natured kidding aside, why does disinterest in purchasing this guitar consistently result in its price going up?

@tintronic: Because I have the sorry characteristic of possessing no patience with obvious idiots. Asking price now: $7500. Any more questions?

By The Way, I really do hesitate to take issue with Travis himself, but... "over-priced guitar polish"? I've bought two tubes of the Martin stuff over the course of thirty years, have always had three guitars, polished them upon strings changes on average of every two-to-four weeks, and only had to buy the second tube due to leaving the first in Alaska five years ago. Yes, it's $6-7 a shot, but... at 25 years a shot, I think that's a reasonable bargain. Turtle Wax? Yeah, I use that on a car. It's abrasive.

Now had I chosen to answer civilly I'd say I was concerned my initial low price made folk think the guitar damaged.

Cool, looks like a lovely bean!

But why would i pay 3600 when you listed at 2200 euros which is about 2900 Australian dollars?

This guitar is not "severely modified," as some would have it (nor for that matter is it cracked; that's mineral infusion in the wood): three 3/32" holes, not deep (aside from the two associated with the pick guard); two large, and yes ugly, stickers on the body; one small sticker on the pick guard. That's it, that's all it's been "modified."

The finish is worn through in three spots: under my forearm, at my hip, and next to the lead or bridge pickup where the pick guard belongs. The pickups are original. The pots are original. The three-position switch is original. They all work, noise-free. The frets too, are original... there's a rub. I was still a novice when I got this guitar and there is fret wear to show it, under the higher strings and up to and beyond the twelfth fret.

The fretboard itself has a bit of scalloping at and around the first position, that's just something that happens with me (when refretted, my acoustics' fingerboards got filled--against my express wishes!) for whatever reason. It is the original (Rosewood? Ebony?) fingerboard and never retouched; nor was the finish, body or neck. And yes, the Original Hardshell Case is veritably plastered with stickers well that's how I could always tell it from a crowd and it is what it is.

This guitar is obviously not "mint," but it's damn near immaculate. Bank on it, as with my wish.

@millagurnzie That could work. At that price, you will have to cover the shipping and insurance 100% and pay up front. Have you a PayPal account?

Still available, with synthesizer (Roland GR-1), and it's quite a rig.
