some people like em, some people don't. I would say that in general they're not desirable, but I don't mind them at all. I don't think it has much effect on the price.

I've never felt mine to be sticky, but maybe other owners can chime in here. Possibly in high humidity?

I have an Artist with a imron neck and a Standard without, I have never really noticed much of a difference.

Imron necks don't feel sticky. I preferred my Imron Neck (no longer with me) to my raw neck. If the location were you play gets really cold, the imron does help keep your hands from freezing over...otherwise, it feels like your playing a freezing flag pole.
But definitely a six of one, one half dozen of the other difference.
