Does anyone know anything about Memphis branded guitars from the 70's? Recently purchased an obviously old and well-played Memphis Presicion clone and it's really a nice piece. I realize that current guitars bearing the Memphis name are cheap, third-world planks, but this bass is so dead on in looks (right down to the peghead shape) feel and tone...it's no wonder the term "lawsuit guitar" is so legendary. It's made from real alder and maple, has good hardware and totally nails the CBS Fender vibe..My question is, who made this guitar? Ibanez? Aria? Univox? "Made In Japan" stamped on the neckplate is the only identifying mark.
