I have an old TB2000 koa bass. I have always loved the sound. Does anyone know what kind of pickups were used on them? Were they made by Travis or an outside manufacturer?

All travis bean PU's were custom wound in the TB factory. They are essentially irreplacable.

though they're irresplacible, what pickups (single coil or humbucker) are most similar to TB's?

In an interview Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth mentioned the Tele Deluxe Pickups sounds close to the TB1000 HBs. For the 500 PU's I'd try a P90.
