Just having a quick skim through the database (TB1000s) and couldn't find any left-handed guitars. How many left-handed TBs 1000s are out there, people? Anyone ever seen one?

I own the original left handed Standard #1394 (listed in the database on here with a couple of pics). It's a lovely guitar.

Standard #1395 is also an original lefty, built for Travis's wife and inscribed to her on the back of the neck. I have photos of this guitar.

There is at least one other lefty 1000 Artist with a photo in the database on here, #1189, and someone posted on here recently with a lefty 500, believed to be the only one made and there a few TB2000 basses around too but l/h Beans do seem to be very rare on the whole.

I own TB2000 #570 which was a lefty that Travis made for a friend.

My TB4000 Wedge has been converted to a lefty as well.

Are the lefty basses particularly valuable because of their rarity? Perhaps enough so that some collector or other would be interested in trading a more unusual guitar (500, or painted) for one? hint hint ;)

I don't know how many left-handed TB2000 bases were made. I know mine exists, and there was a guy in an R&B band I can't remember the name of right now that had a lefty TB2000. If you take in to account that only 10% of the world's population are left-handed, and only a minuscule fraction of those people play bass and had heard of Travis Beans while they were in production, chances are there are only a few out there. Chances are there aren't that many people looking now, either.

I paid $660 for it. It's left-handed, black, and has Marc and Travis' signatures engraved in the neck, along with the date it was completed, and who it was made for (all of which you can see in the database section of this site). I'd be willing to bet that my lefty is probably the "most collectible" of the lefties, but at the same time, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I don't know anyone other than the original owner who is willing to pay for it, and I'm not willing to sell it, so I guess technically, it isn't worth anything... :)

That makes me wonder.... What percentage of people who have bought a Bean have ever sold a Bean? I bet there's a much higher retention rate than for just about any other guitar. That would be an interesting poll to take!

I limit my playing to my Martin
