There is a glut of unloved beans on ebay. For being such a rare guitar there are certainly a few for sale at the moment. I see a complete reversal to 1998 prices coming. I love that prices are coming down. does any one feel the same way?

yes! most people who play these guitars play them because of the way they sound and feel, which is unlike anything else in the world. they're guitars for musicians who care about music, who care about the wild ad beautifyl vibrations of sound in the world. people like that don't tend to have a lot of money, because they care about other things that are more important in life than making tons of money. so I'm all for Bean prices coming down, to make them actually affordable to most musicians. it will be interesting to see what happens. personally i've got two Beans, so I'm all set. would be nice to have a tb500 someday but I bet those will keep their high prices just because of their relative rarity. hmmmmm.

Sorry guys, I don't think the prices will come down much (but it would be wonderful it they did). See my post on the #558 thread.
There are only a few thousand of these guitars in the world and there will never be any more "original" Beans.
Hey Barack - quit worrying about guitars and concentrate on fixing all of the problems you inherited!

rlrlrlrlrlrllrlrlrl prices have already come down.koa Artist go for 4k now instead of 6k. Thats an enormous reduction in price. next stop 3k! The only thing holding is value is colored instruments. http://cgi.ebay.com/Travi.....=66:2|65:13|39:1|240:1318
rarity is only a small factor on value. you also have to have demand.

Koa varies considerably in quality and I'd say the recent Artist is not the nicest example of grain, color, etc. I'd put a well figured or flamed koa Bean up there with the rarest colors, and even a bit above the common colors.

yes ive noticed the prices going down. i got a gorgeous standard for the equivalant of $2800 a month ago. sadly though, its nothing to with beans prices having peaked, but more to do with the GLOBAL recession hitting the uk and america to an extreme level. has this not crossed your minds? prices in all guitars right across the board - fenders/guilds/the lot have fallen steeply because no has any money. in fact this has happened to virtually everything you can think of. youve heard of petrol to right? when people have money and if the economy goes back to normal (big if here) the prcies will go back up. get your heads out of your arses people. its not to do with the beans its to do with a general lack of funds.

vintage guitar prices were down way before the subprime meltdown or the stock market decline. Beans were the only guitars going up at the time! It was just a fad fueled by a few crazed collectors. There are still Plenty of people with tons of money. These guitars were so "ugly" and hated for so long and then all of a sudden they are the prom queen? They still have all the features that made them hated in the 70's/80's. I like these features but it will always limit their appeal. The majority of guitar players have not even touched one. They have just lusted after a picture of one on the internet. Now they have gone on to "googling" something else.
