So just watched "Fuzz: The Sound That Revolutionized the World"
http://amzn.to/b9HOkN
It's a pretty cool doc about fuzz pedals, and people making them today. Some interesting characters (ZVex, Death by Audio, etc)
Any you guys into fuzz pedals? I've been thinking about getting a fuzz.. but I'm sorta into germanium fuzzes in particular. I absolutely LOVE the Fulltone '69 fuzz (which I mentioned in the pedal thread).. pretty hard to get since they're out of production.
Some Big Muffs are good, I own a Way Huge Swollen Pickle.. which is not what I'm looking for at all. Too scooped. I'd like to try a ZVex Fuzz Factory or Mastotron Fuzz (that's silicon based, though). There are a ton of garage builders building some great germanium based fuzzes out there.
Any recommendations?

NOW THIS IS MY TOPIC!
My most recent fuzz pedal is the Diabolical Matter Disorganizer: http://www.classaelectron.....bolicalamplification.html
John is the guy who does all the hardwiring for Electric Amp Innovations, this happens to be his own line of fuzz pedals and amps.
Aside from that, Euthymia Electronics make some killer fuzz pedals. I have had the pleasure of trying Erik's ICBM fuzz, which sounds just like the Big Muff op-amp pedal (in fact, the ICBM is an exact clone).

I have a collection of Big Muffs and love them. Depending on how you play and your amp, you can find a Muff that suits you. I have always love the Russian Green Muffs, particularly the V7C Muffs: http://www.kitrae.net/music/big_muff_history2.html
I am also on the fence about the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face - I cannot decide if I really like it. Foxxs' Tone Machine is also good but for the price you pay for an original, you can buy the aforementioned Diabolical pedal, which is a faithful recreation.

I love my Homebrew Electronics "Big-D." It's got a huge sound. I mostly end up using the dirty-side of my Model-Ts (reissues) though because I haven't found a pedal yet that can compete with how amazing they sound.

i play the TRULY BEAUTIFUL DISASTER by OOHLALA - a handnumbered boutique fuzz pedal
here is the info and the specs:
Truly Beautiful Disaster
The TBD is simply an oscillating fuzz and a feed back loop with photo sensitive eye in one pedal. The oscillating fuzz is capable of hundreds of different fuzz tones with it's blend, fuzz, oscillation, and gate controls, while the feed back loop can mutate any of your other effects into a new noise generating machine of doom.
Tech Specs
* true bypass * enclosure size : 4.7" x 3.7" x 1.18" * boutique quality components * incredibly low mA draw * silicon transistor based * 9 volt, 2.1 mm, negative tip power jack * 9 volt battery snap inside (unscrew the back plate)
Controls
* fuzz foot switch : turns fuzz on / off * volume knob : controls fuzz volume (becomes master volume when both loop and fuzz are on) * blend knob : controls amount of clean signal vs. fuzz, as well as altering the fuzz tone * fuzz knob : controls fuzz intensity * oscillation knob : controls oscillation intensity * gate flip switch : engages gate mode, which in some settings kills the oscillation * loop foot switch : turns loop on / off * feedback knob : controls feedback intensity of loop * eye knob : turns photo eye on / off * infinity knob : turns feedback function of loop on / off * photo eye : controls intensity of feedback function of loop when on

...little story how i came across
last year i bought ZU´s "carboniferous" album and i was blown by the bassist (fuzz)sound.
check: http://www.youtube.com/wa.....n8GlxGYus&feature=related
in january i was staying in milan for a couple of weeks and there was this "boutique" guitars/amps/pedals and records shop nearby my appartement and it turned out that the owner is a good friend of ZU. so he showed me what the bassist was/is using. the next thing i did when i came back to germany was to buy that pedal immediately. i play my TB clean most of the time but in case i wanna some fuzz sounds the TBD is all i need.
