Interesting that it says "first time on the market." Seems like I've seen that guitar with those neck scratches before.

I bet those scratches can be buffed out. Original case, good condition. Looks like a nice koa standard.

WTF?! I guess I don't understand how E-Bay works anymore. This guitar was for sale in an auction. Bidders had the price up over $2,500 and there was still time left. Next thing you know the auction is ended and it's re-posted with BIN of $3,995.
Was the initial auction just testing the water? If so I'm sure all the bidders really appreciated being wet lab rats. I'm not in the market, but I would be pissed if I were trying to buy this guitar.
It seems to me that E-Bay has become a very unsatisfactory way to try and buy a guitar these days. It promises a "free open market" approach and then well intentioned bidders are jacked around by unscrupulous sellers. Is this how one maximizes the selling price?
Obie's auction of the white 500 was a straight forward, no BS, highest bidder wins kind of deal. People paid attention and bid high because they understood that there wouldn't be any monkey business at the end. That's how E-Bay is supposed to work. There haven't been too many Bean sales on E-Bay like that this year.
I'll step off of my high horse now. Thank you.
Peter

it looks to me like the first auction ended without the reserve price being met. the last bid was at 12:47 pm on dec 6 and the auction ended at 2:11 pm on dec 6 so i don't think the seller ended the auction early.
looks like the seller has a price in mind and since the reserve wasn't met they have every right to re-list with the buy-it-now price they want. if i had a 1000s i wouldn't want to sell it for 'only' $2651 although $3995 is probably a little high right now.
