yeah that lower horn is subtle but different. and the vertical part of the headstock T has been widened and lengthened a bit (almost touches the serial number and tuners).

I've heard of a few people back in the day personally requesting the smaller horn. TBG normally didn't do 'custom' work but on occasion they would do this mod. Also the headstock is quite interesting. I've only seen a few like this, and they were related to getting the weight down on the necks. This guitar seems like there were specific requests related to it. Love to know the history and who this was originally for.

admin, can you tell us what you have heard about the smaller horn mod/customization? I haven't ever hear that but recently saw another standard that had a smaller treble horn. Thanks.

Hello waitebt
I received a few emails that talk about *custom* order from the shop. Here is a partial quote from one of those emails...
"Then I ordered a white 1000a with pink pearl, spectacular, and Gus Zoppi in Detroit convinced the TB shop to the build it with the bottom horn cut away bigger than most. I traced the horn from a LP goldtop, since, as you all know, the TB doesn't have enough clearance to get to the upper frets(oy!)"
Interesting. I'll see if I can find some more information.

I looked in the notebook at Artists numbered 1100 thru 1199 to see if there were any notes that could relate to this piece. Two guitars have the note "To Q's in Europe", #1189 is a lefty, # 1163 says "T-line for show" and #1165 says "1-1/2 for Mike Sembello - He never got it." One other interesting note on this range. There is an asterisk next to #1146 and at the base of the page is written "Accidentally #'d 1147 - went out as such." So it appears that there may be two #1147s, and no #1146.
