Just purchased bass #437,
Needs some TLC-
It's been a player for sure, came with low tension flats-
the neck is very flat, no relief is this normal?
To get it playing I've had to put very heavy gage strings on it-
115 e string. Nut looks to be original. Still not quite right
As far as relief goes. Needs more. Any suggestions?
Also the E is quiet, in comparison the the other strings.
Maybe electronics or pickups I gather- will post a couple pics
of the control cavity, it's got Sprague caps and I'm wondering if it
Is original, seems to be, as the rest of the bass is.
I'll browse repairs etc but any thoughts on setup would be appreciated,
and if the neck needs to be worked on seriously I'm in it
to bring this thing back to player condition so any info would be greatly appreciated.
I live in the DC area, any experienced techs anyone could mention?
Thanks for your time, and this site.

Look up Kevin Burkett at electrical guitar company/ Travis bean designs and he can help you out. There is also a great group on Facebook called aluminium axes and folk can help there.
