So.. I have some new features that I hope I'll be able to roll out this holiday (new look for members, video area, new image handling). Seems like the site can use some positivity as of late.
I'm also going to make a decision if I'm going to close the forum... or not. People want a open board but also want people banned or censored. I myself feel very disappointed that this board has reached this particular state. It's been up 7 years without a problem... until 2007.
Basically, we're at a cross roads..
establish posting rules, ban users, moderate posts based on posting rules. OR get rid of it entirely.
Well.. one involves a lot of work and whining.. and the other is easy.

well i personally have largely stopped using the board because the anonymity of it all lets people act like aggressive self righteous asses at free will. the same reason i stopped using the electrical audio list serve. its tricky how to handle it. i really love reading the forum mostly so i hope you keep it open. its just obviously a few bad eggs. maybe members could be voted off somehow? some sort of system of so many votes and they get kicked out? i dont think thats censorship. were all here for a very specific reason and its just us saying to someone- your making it difficult so you have to leave. of course i support giving you (admin) carte blanche to make those decisions also. you seem really nice and sensitive to these dynamics. i think you would be fair and never malicious. thats a tough job though. well, i hope something works out and few people making trouble calm down or dissappear. thanks for all the work you do. ---travis

I think it's pretty silly for people on the board to be so presumptious about others on the board. I feel like a lot of the posters have a lot of technical knowledge to share or are interesting people with a lot to offer. I do agree with travis about it becoming a pretty negative place and it is a shame. I hadn't posted in a long time, and maybe some of my posts just add fuel to the fire but I had enough with the name calling and annoying posts from certain members and felt like i need to speak up about it. I think it would be a real shame to close down the board because there are such positive aspects to it. Ultimately it is your decision and you need to do what feels right but I have really enjoyed so many of the people & posts since I have joined.
thanks again admin!

i just felt compelled to write that i think it is a real shame that kevin was put in the position of having to defend his business and livelyhood on this board. does every luthier making wooden neck guitars have to take this berating because their predecessors used wood too?
when i look at his standard all aluminum guitars i see a beautiful instrument that is uniquely his. his custom guitar is merely inspired by a vintage guitar that is in such limited inventory most can't afford. he has also made countless positive contributions to this board and offered help and information to people that need answers about their beans.

I talked to Kevin about a year ago about ordering an EGC custom, but I was concerned if i bought one i would still want a Bean. I have other goals and ambitions in my life so i cannot spend thousands of dollars on guitars. The question at the time was get a Bean or an EGC. Kevin told me that if I really wanted a Bean I should try to find one because they are amazing guitars. I own a Bean now and love it. Your name calling really detracts from the points you are trying to make. Will you clean up your language and try not to attack people you don't know? Otherwise, you could politely just stop posting here. If you didn't get the message that's what people want.

Point #1.. I'm no kid Point #2.. This site is something I put together for the TB community, but don't piss in the pool Point #3.. If we're going to have the forum.. don't disrespect other forum contributors.. and obviously.. don't disrespect.. ME. Not sure what you're hoping to achieve with that. I've obviously tried my best to allow an open venue over the last 7 years.. and as people have advised me against this, it's proven to have failed. Point #4.. change your alias, change your email.. whatever.. anyone acting like TBGURU... will get you banned. The good 'ol days of open forum are gone. More changes will come in the near future, but today is a sad sad day in travisbeanguitars.com
So the moderation is in affect. If you believe that this impacts the "credibility" of this forum or this site, I apologize. You have the right to move on.

Hey admin...I support whatever you decide to do, but I wonder if it is worth changing things due to one wacko. It seems to me he might lose interest or at least calm down after awhile. Too bad he can't seem to chill out a bit, since there are a few moments of useful interest in his posts from time to time. Oh well, thanks for hosting the site..
