Hoping someone might be able to give me some adivice. I'm going to sell #760, my 1000S I've had since 1978. I want to get an idea what I should expect value wise. It's got some issues. The finish isn't original and it's amatuer (crappy amatuer!). The pots have all had 1/2 of the split shaft removed to put on knobs with set-screws (easy on me! I was 18 and medicated). Had 2 or 3 frets replaced. The usual dings and one dent in the back. Everything else original including case (purple lined). Also curious if anyone has advice re: what to do before I sell.

Here's a couple of pics

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Steve

It's pretty much worthless, In fact I'll volunteer to properly dispose of it for you.

Actually, It looks pretty good to me, the refinish probably puts it a little under the average market, but the way things have been going lately I'd be suprised if it went for under 3K

Yeah, someone may buy it, keep the case and re-sell the guitar. What happened to the original finish?

Thanks for your advice folks. I really appreciate it. Regarding the original finish, I stripped it down about 20 years ago when nobody had any idea these were going to be worth something someday. It was my player and I wanted to try something different. Changed my mind and decided to go back to clear laquer (original). I was living in an apartment, couldn't make a booth, and tried to finish it with N/C laquer by hand, did a lousy job, and put it back together so I could play it again. I've since picked up other guitars and don't get to play this one much. Feel like a fool for the stuff I did to this but.... when you're young and don't know what you have!. Just to prove I'm not a complete butcher, here's some pictures of my Flying V that I refinished myself. I'll leave the finish on this to whoever ends up with it to decide.

Thanks again and like I said, any advice on anything I should do before I sell it is appreciated.

Steve

Vincent, By saying " get this one" do you mean 1) did anyone give me more advice? 2) does understand what the hell I'm trying to say? or, 3) did anyone buy this guitar?

Hey Steve, are you looking to sell you V? I've got a Medallian Firebird and have been looking for a V to pair it up with. I know this post has been here a while, just thought I'd check. What's the # on the medallian? Thanks, Chark

Sorry for taking a while to get back to you guys but, the Bean has been sold and I think I'm hanging on to the V as they seem to be appreciating as crazily as the Beans are.
