I got my Bean here in Boulder,Colorado(the date above is an approximation, it was sometime in '77) In 1980 the bridge pickup was damaged(open coil). I had no way to replace it with an OEM pickup, so I installed a Bartolini Hi-A humbucker. I fabricated a mounting ring from aluminum and proceeded to rewire the bass completely adding Allen-Bradley 500K potentiometers and a mini toggle switch to split the humbucker down to single coil. I had a non-functioning ACOUSTIC bass head lying around, so I canniblized 4 of the aluminum knobs and added them to the mix. I've been playing my Bean almost exclusively for the last 25 years(except for 2 years it was stolen from the living room of my house. A guitar player friend, a TRUE friend, recognized my bass in a local pawn shop and facilitated its return). I love my Bean and will never part with it again!
(Above is from original owner) Everything Robt said about it is true, except that he parted with it in a trade to me in approx 2005. It's still in Colorado, USA. I've wanted one ever since I worked with the guy that owns #402, almost 30 years ago. And don't forget the original owner, Robt. Bagg, of Boulder, Colorado! Great player, great guy!
