Has anyone ever seen or heard an aluminum bass with a tremolo bridge?

I'd kill for one on my TB2000 but would never even consider routing out a big chunk of the body to install one. I'm dreaming up my future EGC purchase and am wondering how feasible/outrageous this is. I've been looking at Kahler and Hipshot bass tremolo bridges and have read some decent reviews for both.

Thoughts?

Hey Chelsea,

The Hipshot would be my choice as you can block it like a Strat tremolo to get the extra body contact with the bridge. I've installed a lot of Kahlers, they are unique and cool in their own way, but I always felt they took something away from the guitar in the end. The Hipshot is a two point fulcrum design, great for bass and returning in tune, and more extreme sounds via the extra travel over the Kahler.

I've seen an EGC bass with a tremolo, I think it was a Wedge shape, all metal, but it's been a while.

I don't have any experience with either bridge so thanks for the input!

I've installed a regular hipshot 3 point bridge on my Gibson SG and was really happy with it, so I have some faith in their products.

Kevin made a five-string Wedge bass with a trem bridge. Here's a photo:

I dont know which is more amazing: the craftsmanship of his instruments, or the grass in the background of those pictures....deep green with thick, healthy blades.
