read quite a few unanswered questions about pickup replacement here an d was wondering if nobody ever tried egc:

from their myspace page:
"All Electrical pickups are hand wound and feature Alnico 5 magnets and steel base plates. This combination of Alnico and steel adds more clarity and high end than could be had with a brass based pickup. For exact specs on each model please feel free to email at electricalguitarcompany@yahoo.com or checkout our website at www.electricalguitarcompany.com."
or http://www.myspace.com/electricalguitarcompany

wouldnt that be as close as you can get?
I didnt ask if they sell those though?

As close as you can get to what, Bean pickups?

I dunno, I've never played an Electrical. The fact that they use A5 mags and a steel baseplate tells very little about what the pickup will sound like.

Steve Albini seems to like the single-coil EGC pickups. He has been pictured playing his EGC custom 500 on stage.

I've got them on my EGC custom 500 and they sound great. I don't know what the humbuckers sound like, but I think our Admin has a standard and has posted positive reports. Kevin at EGC uses alnico magnets and I believe winds the pickups himself. I'm sure he'll give you the specs if you send him an e-mail.

Are they Bean pickups? No, of course not. Do they sound good? I think so.

Yeah I was thinking of ordering some pickups from Kevin at EGC but wasn't sure if he took orders for pickups. They are supposed to be good tho, let us know if you order some.

The pickups I make for my guitars are a good bit different(mounting, impedance, size, ect), but I have made a couple sets of pickups to standard specs for people with Beans that are dead. Theres one guy that should be trusted to rewind and its lindy fralin. Out of respect for the Beans, i wont make them for other guitars, I just make them to replace destroyed pickups. I have repaired a few sets of bean pickups as well, but again i will now leave that to lindy.

Kevin, I have a Bean with non-original pickups.....can you make replacements? I emailed the guy with the metal covers but did not get too far with that.
LMK.
