I have a Magnum all chrome model. You probably haven't heard anyone talk about them because there are only about 3 dozen in existence. Warren Cuccurullo (Missing Persons, Duran Duran) owns one and the guy from Def Leppard was about to get one, last time I spoke to Arndt (the guy who makest them.)
Arndt used to be an outsource machinist for NASA, and singlehandedly makes them in Washington State.
Since it is CNCed, it is the most accurately made guitar I own. The sound is very clean; almost piano like, with a great deal of low end. Arndt also offers the guitars with Seymour Duncans - I'm very interested to hear how that would sound.
The Magnesium neck has two big advantages over aluminum:
1. it is lighter, thus balancing the guitar a bit better than the neck heavy beans.
2. maintains its shape. if an aluminum neck is bent out of shape, it stays that way. (Despite the claims, aluminum necks do bend out of shape [though you have to try hard.]) Magnesium bends back to its original shape, as long as it isn't bent too far.
Since it does not have a wooden body like beans, the sound has less warmth. It is a solidbody, like the ABC guitars.
Prices range from about $2000 and up.
