First of all, tell him - NICE JOB! The man made some great guitars that have become real collectors items.
I'm curious about the finish on my 1000S (#933). It has what appears to be a clear satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Most beans have a glossy lacquer finish so I'm wondering if mine was refinished or if it could be original. Thanks.

Could you ask Mr. Bean to look at my website and let me know if he has any problems with the few necks I made with his headstock? My website is at:

I would like to know why Travis himself is not more involved with this website. No time? No interest? Been there, done that? If so, I can certainly understand and respect that. All I know, is that if I was the creator of something as beautiful, functional, prized, and rare as these basses and guitars, I would have a strong presence/availabilty on this web site.
He probably is just tired of all the questions he gets anyway, and he is described as "affable and self-deprecating", so he is probably just not inclined, out of his humility. But realize that lifetimes from now into the future, when all of us are gone, all of these Travis Beans will still be here and will be treasured more intensely than anything we could observe today. And as absurd as it may seem, from an anthropological point of view, in 10,000 years, a TB is more likely to have survived in a playable condition than any stringed instrument made out of wood. These TB's are going to be rare antiques. We need to hear and document as much anecdotal, IMHO, empirical, recollections and other pieces from Mr. Travis Bean himself, while we are all still alive.
I hope Travis knows how much we all appreciate his vision and his instruments.

Hey Greg,
this is the kid you're suppose to be building the guitar for, the original Artist Body and custom neck. You stop contacting me like 3 months ago after we talked a bunch in emails about how it would be constructed, specs, woods and materials used. Whats the deal?

I have a tb2000 whose serial number appears to be 015. It has a nameplate on the headstock which says "Billy Cox". The store where I bought it claimed that it was handmade personally by Bean for Band of Gypsies bassist Billy Cox. I would appreciate it very much if you could ask Travis if such an instriment was ever made.

hi airik, just wondering if i could get some info on a wedge i own signed in the aluminum by tb. there seems to be allot of 'speculative' controversy as to whether the guitar is a prototype, a custom order or an amalgam of parts. appreciate any info. thx. sf
