I just finished assembling my 1st TB from parts I got on ebay. Its an Artist body with a standard neck or at least a neck marked with big "S" in the pickup cavity. I'm using a pair of P90's on it and I am completely blown away! An unbelieveable sound, really a different instrument from the usual electric guitar of which I have played virtually all known models. Amazing sustain, not as bright as I feared it might be, incredible bass richness, smooth even tones, perfect shape neck and light over all. I had never played one, so different from the aluminum Kramers. Yes, my TB cherry has been popped gloriuously!

I had a TB2000 and I agree about them being amazing instruments.
Does anyone have a photo of the front of the neck with the body removed? I was always curious what it would look like since I only saw the back of the neck bolted to the body.
Thanks,
Mark F.

Thats not really how they are made. Its bascially a big pocket with rails down the entire side of each side with a relief cut in for pickup wires.

Wow, very cool Kevin. Thanks for the photos. Very interesting. So the neck slides into the body. Now I must ask--what do the bolts hold on too in order to hold the neck firmly in place? It looks like the four holes line up with the pickup cutouts.
Thanks,
Mark F.

The bolts are for the pickups only. The neck slides into the body much like a drawer to a chest. The bolts from the bridge actually hold it all together.

Thanks for all of the info, Kevin. Now I know that these guitars are made better than I had thought.
Thanks again.

So one thing that worries me about Bean construction is that there is just that little bit of wood between the pickups that holds the guitar "together". In other words if that fairly thin piece of wood cracks then the guitar probably splits in half. My fear is that the weight of the guitar combined with the pull on the upper horn with a shoulder strap can literally pull the guitar in two. And the basses are even more precarious since the bridge is so far back on the body. Am I missing something here?

Nice pics, John. I see now what you mean about the tight fit being a necessity. So that's the main thing holding it and the small screws in the bridge lock it in. So the bridge screws I imagine are machine screws?
I guess the wood does get thin in certain places, Charlie but maybe the tightness compensates for stress? Not sure.

yes, that piece of wood between the pickups is quite precarious, but the main pull and stress on the horn from strap, etc does not really effect that piece of wood. I have never seen that piece cracked on any of the most beat Beans. I have taken two of my Beans apart...the one in the photo, which had holes in the side of the neck cavity to screw into the body, but they were not utalized..... and the second one, an earlier artist, which had the earlier design (aluminum plate on top of the cavity, looks like a bridge fvrom side view. That one had a hole on either side of the neck piece as well but only one screw was in place. I guess the bottom line is that the only real thing holding the neck on are the three bridge screws.
