Currently there is a Matt black finished Artist listed on ebay. I was wondering if anyone knows if TB factory actualy provide for such a finish? It also seems that the wiring haresss has been cut for some reason and then soldered soldered back.
Thanks, Jetze

No, Travis Bean Guitars were never offered or produced in a matt finish. By the way, thats the most obviously refinished Travis Bean guitar I have ever seen in my life. Not even close to original finish

Scam ΓΆ‚¬" that one is a refin. Check out the database. It was originally Koa.
I wish there was a way to advise bidders, but Ebay won't do squat about fraudulent descriptions.

Guys please, its the MOST obviously refinished Bean on planet earth. It needs no further evidence and no trial. Convicted refin with aftermarket knobs and no vibe. Sentence to death. And Humbuck you should know better by now

I know, but i just wanted It to be confirmed and documented online as the seller did not place my question on eBay, although he did place pictures with the tape on the inside taken off.
Thanks, Jetze

I think you should report the seller to Ebay, humbuck (I did.) I consulted the guy who wired the guitar at TB in the 70s, and he does not recognize the splice of the pickup leads ΓΆ‚¬" the electronics aren't original either.

Wiggle, The splices were obviously done to save time removing the electronics before refinishing which was one of the many many clear obvious signs the guitar was not original finish. Duh. The electronics are original in that the wire, pots, caps and pickups appear original. The original electronics have been spliced and therefore are modified from the original installation. If we are going to talk about a Travis Bean in the context of Vinatge Collectable Guitars lets do so accordingly. Just in those pictures the black guitar had many obvious signs it was refinished and an in hand inspection would have expressed even more. In any case the eBay ad is now down
